REA Class of 2018 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Why would you do that to yourself, matrixsurgeon?

to be honest, I don’t know how I will react or decide on the day when i checking it. for the last thing i had several weeks ago for this major scholarship, i waited 6 days to check online, another thing i checked it the second it came out… i guess it all depends on how im feeling that day…but one thing is for sure, imma run 5-6 miles after getting home from school on that friday so idk

Is there anyone else on here interested in Management Sciences and Engineering? That’s my intended major if admitted.

If you’re not going to check right away, don’t peek into this thread or you’ll watch us all go crazy.

I can continuously say to myself that “the odds of getting in are so low, you shouldn’t be disappointed if you don’t get in”… but the truth is, I’m gonna be pretty mad/sad if I don’t make it.

[REA Decisions to be Released | Stanford Admission Blog](Page Not Found : Stanford University)

Here’s what I’m gonna do: due to time zone difference the results will probably be released in the morning here. I’ll wake up early, shower and get myself fresh and all, leave house and start running around the track nearby. THEN I’ll sit on a bench there and check the results through my phone… so that if I’m rejected I could calm down my emotions and run a few rounds before returning home. I’ll do anything to avoid crying inside the house…
And then if I do get in I could run around the neighborhood screaming.
that’d be awesome

I’m very glad that the timezone difference means they’ll be released at 6 here, because I don’t think I’d be able to stand the 30 minute drive home to check since my school ends at 3. And if I borrowed someone’s phone that could access email, I wouldn’t want to risk a public breakdown.

Here’s my prospective college list:
Stanford, Princeton, Dartmouth, UChicago, Northwestern, Yale, Harvard, Brown, Virginia, Michigan, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Washington-St. Louis, UPenn

EDIT: I probably won’t apply to all of them

That’s a lofty list. Are you including any safeties? I know that personally I’ve included BostonU (almost a lock) and USC as places I feel I’m sure to get in.

@Aegise yeah, I would’ve been on the bus home from a speech tournament if the results had been actually released on the 15th

Every single ivy? Wow. You seem to be lacking in the match/safety school range.

I feel better knowing that I’m not the only one whose list consists of 90% Ivys/reaches. I’m only going out of state if I get into a school like that to make it worth the money, or else I’m better off just saving money by going to my in-state choice. So I don’t really have any matches/safeties outside of state, and 99% of the time, this makes me paranoid that I’ll be rejected from every single one of them.

@Hindupowers!! we have alot of the same schools! yea im also applying to WAY WAY too many reach schools and barely any match/safetiess!!!

@ALARMringing!! you took the thought out of my mind!! thats waht im planning on doing IF I CHECK it on friday that is…when i get home around 4-5 est ill go jogging a bit outside in teh dark hopefully its cold and get all adrenaline running and stuff…ill check outside, if i get in, ill keep running and feel super elated. If i don’t get in, ill be depressed but while im running lolol

@aegise its almost as if we are the same person lololol im scared of not getting into a single of the schools im applying to and im only applyin out of state cause most of the stuff instate is good public but best stuff is out of state…

Yeah I guess it’s a little overboard, but I dunno if I’ll still apply to all of them as of yet. My GC told me that list included a few schools I’d for sure get into (like Tennessee which is in-state) so I dunno.

I’ve already done USC, Texas, Texas A&M, and Columbia. I might add one more instate safety, but I couldn’t imagine having lists as long as some of you guys. Doesn’t it cost like thousands of dollars to apply to dozens of school?

@Aegise

I know a number of people last year who did get rejected from all the other schools except Stanford, who was basically swooping down on a white horse to save them.

But a 2400,2400, straight A 12 AP girl wasn’t rescued by Stanford the White Knight… She went to UCLA…so better still, apply for UCs, they save the day, although in a less fancy way.

only if i lived in Cal, the UC’s would be the best secondary option (NOT SAYING THEY ARE EASY TO GET IN, just saying tht they are among the best public schools in the country). instead in NC, the only good public school for waht i wanna do is UNC which i wouldn’t mind going but i wanna get in somewhere better :frowning: and as someone highlighted earlier that lots of people get straight up rejected FROM EVERYWHERE good…

@HateBeinSober yeah that’s why I’m not going to apply to some of the reaches unless I’ve got the money and the time. I’ve already applied to Tennessee, Marquette (the application fee was $0 and there was no supplement), WUSTL, and Stanford.
