Oh wow. My statement sounds like it should be the new UPS slogan (right now it’s “What can Brown do for you?”)

woo international students!

Is it easier to accepted for some majors?

I’m not sure but I have heard that Stanford has in recent years suffered from a lack of humanities majors, so it might be easier for say a history major to get in then a chemistry major… I personally know a Stanford professor (wrote a recommendation for me thank god) who told me that this was indeed the case in recent years and in some situations!

So I have an interesting situation where I can basically see when my application is viewed by an admissions officer. I just saw someone view it an hour ago–what do you think could be going on?
Didn’t know they worked this late!

It’s interesting. My mom just brought up a cool point when she compared college entrance in India to that in the United States. She said that it was a little less stressful there because the entire process is really just one exam, and you know for the most part how well you think you did directly after taking it, and the wait is easier because most of the stress was before you took the test. Meanwhile, in the US, the admission process can seem so arbitrary and up to so many factors that it’s a little more stressful. Though in the end, I think what we do with what we get in this process is going to be what determines our future.

@sabra0627 what about an English major?

@Sabra0627 psychology is a humanities major, riiiiiight?

Edit: nope, social science

English definitely… but I think he was referring specifically to history and english majors… Im banking on that because i hope to major in history!!! :)

How do you know?

Quick reminder to everyone that you can submit to the letter for future applicants here:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/11jarERmCF8__3-Sb7U9Uy0Ig5ow7ivNwe-PNlygqcc8/edit?usp=docslist_api

Well I know because the person used to be a professor in the history department and specifically talked to dean shaw, who told him that the dearth of humanities majors was an important factor in many admissions decisions… Disclaimer: this is what he told me, take it as you will :)

@Brogrammer17, you should also post that on the results thread come Friday!

How is everyone feeling about Friday? I’m sooo nervous but it’ll be a relief to just know

@elizabh If only Stanford recruited athletes for cricket, I wouldn’t be feeling the same as you. But I do.

this level of stress should be illegal

What if something miraculous happens and all of us on this thread get accepted

Does Stanford have a cricket team? They should really have a college-level cricket league. I would watch the games, only because I am Indian (I like embracing my racial stereotypes).

I just want it to happen already. I’m tired of thinking about it. I do this thing where I think of all of the strong parts of my app, then I feel somewhat confident. Then I think about all of the crappy parts of my app and then I’m 100% sure that I’ll be rejected. It’s distracting me from all of the things I need to do, so I’ve basically been watching futurama for the past two days and doing nothing else.
