For those of you who have already lived through. this which payment plan did you find most convenient?

Financial Aid

Is it possible for a freshman and a transfer student to be housed together, in the same room? (For Residential Halls/Plazas)

you pay only 400 dollars as initial payment only if you qualify for financial aid. to know if you do, after choosing your meal plan, the next drop down menu, choose financial aid (i don't know if it'll be there if you DON'T qualify for it). it is automatically a quarter payment system. with this plan you pay less for initial payment ($400), but the other three times you have to pay a lot more to makeup for it (just as liyana said). but it all adds up to the same. so if you paid just $400, theres no other fees as of now.

someone correct me if i'm wrong.

vendetta,

yes. but it's not likely. they do try to pair like with like.

question,

i just accepted my offer for deneve plaza triple. the housing tour guide a couple weeks ago said a lot of freshmen don't get deneve because most of the second-years/third-years take it, and freshmen have a low chance of getting a deneve room. since i got one, does that mean there won't be a lot of freshmen in my floor/building (i know they try to put them in the same room though)? i dont mind second/third years but obviously the more freshmen the better.

There's a lot of freshmen in De Neve.

most/all of the triples on your floor (and in all of de neve) are freshmen.
99% of the doubles are 2nd and 3rd years.
that's pretty much what your tour guide meant.

okay thanks guys.

Help me out here, I'm an international student so I'm going to be living on campus and will probably be staying on campus on weekends as well so I'm thinking 19 Premier is the most appropriate plan for me. The other thing is, as a muslim I can only eat either halal or kosher food. So will that effect which meal plan I should choose, and do UCLA serve halal/kosher meat on campus?

Thanks.

So I gotta fill out my housing application and am interested in the residential plazas and the suites. I'm HOPING that I could get the double (and assuming I have a pretty good chance because of certain limitations), and I'm trying to figure out the pros/cons of each.

Is there any way to predict what building I'd get put into? Does anyone have any advice to offer? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There is no way to choose a building on your housing application

The chances of you getting a double is extremely low, although possible.

Is your limitation a physical handicap? If so, there's a chance you'll get a double in De Neve
Are you deaf? There are hearing-impaired rooms in Rieber Terrace(possibly in others? not sure)

Other than that, I don't see any other way.

It's a physical handicap, in a way. I think it would let me get a single, but that's just too expensive.

And I know that there's no way to choose a building, but after looking at the housing application, I just wanted to know if choosing plaza over suite is favored or vice versa...like if the buildings that they are in are better or any random crap that UCLA's housing website wouldn't usually put up. I dunno... just looking for any sort of advice in the suite vs plaza debate???

Thanks

Check the first post in the thread?

Yeah, I saw that... I'm just nervous with the housing app...don't wanna do anything wrong :)

Ali,
UCLA does offer kosher food on campus. it's something like the bruin plus meal plan... i can't find it on the website, but it's something you can add to any meal plan on a quarterly basis.
it gives you 4 kosher meals a week (dinner mon-thurs) for something like an extra $400 a quarter.
don't get a 19 plan. i really don't know much about kosher/halal food, but if you're strictly limited to those, i don't know how much food you're gonna be finding on campus.

Doubles (shared bath) vs. Doubles (two occupants) ?

Can anyone explain the meaning of these?

double shared means there's two rooms connected by a bathroom in between. so there's essentially 4 people to a bathroom.

doubles two occupants is one room with one bathroom to itself.

oh ok. that makes sense. thanks, liyana.

I just received my housing off Sunset Village//Triple Shared Bathroom and was hoping for a residence hall.

However, I recall reading somewhere if I were to reject this offer I wouldn't be able to get another offer AND probably wont get housing. Am I right?
