Is there enough room to store a big luggage suitcase?

i lived in de neve triple and i had the desk and wardrobe underneath the lofted bed.

with the wardrobe not flush against the wall there was enough room to put my suitcase behind it (i'd drag it under my desk and then push it behind my wardrobe).

I have a question about the moving in and signing up to do so. The date is coming up soon, and I was wondering how they normally do it? I know that you go to the move-in page, and I assume that they will put up the link to sign up when the date comes. Do you even follow what date they have, or can you just move in whenever?

I'm living in a triple next year and was wondering what bed would be better: the elevated loft, the bottom bunk or top bunk?

Is it a good idea to take a desktop if i already have a laptop?

no. just the laptop is fine. unless you're some hxc gamer, but my boyf was all right with his fancy laptop.

loft is best.

Thank you! This is the best thread ever!

derby, you'll be assigned a move-in date and time. its a good idea to follow the suggested move-in times but you don't have to. you can show up whenever you want to move-in during the move-in weekend. they won't turn you away for being early or late.

sleepwalker, i think your question is more about personal preference. but note that the bottom bunk of a triple room quite often turns into the "couch" when visitors are in the room.... so IMO, i'd take the bunk or the loft...

also re: bottom bunk. if the person on the top bunk moves or anything, you'll get thrown around.

my dumbass roommate loved to shove her lardass around on the top bunk.

top bunk feels it less when bottom bunker moves around.

my vote is for the loft, by far.

^^^ dude, seriouslyyy. i remember during one of the first few weeks of school i woke up thinking there was an earthquake and i'm all oh shi ..... then it turned out to be my roommate.

LOL this is funny...for some reason both of my room mates actually want the bottom bunk LOLOL
my 1st roommate on facebook--"Looks like we have a race for the bottom bunk haha"
my 2nd roommate on facebook--"I'll git der 1 hour earlier den u, lolz"

^ Thats too funny!! Quick question here: My son will be in a triple but the third roomate is MIA. He and the other roomate have called him and searched everwhere (Facebook, CC, Myspace...) to no avail. Do you think there is a chance he backed out or does this happen all the time? Maybe too shy to converse? Sure would love it if he ended up in a double! :)

^ does he care about knowing who his roommate is, or do you? =P

maybe it's better to have a face-to-face first meeting, anyway. cyberspace can be misleading. one of my roomie's email addresses was something like "evilgrlrules" and her second address was not exactly PG. she also wrote emails with a black background and hot pink text. it was a less than favorable first impression... had we met in person before all that, it might have been less intimidating!

also, it's very possible your third roomie is either international, or out of the country. august is vacation month, and this is the summer after senior year. some families take big trips, meet up with relatives... etc. one thing that won't happen is your son's getting a double. if the roomie backed out, they'll find another to replace him.

How deep are the desks in Dykstra? I'm trying to decide on a printer. Are the desks like those in RT, or more junky like the rest of Dykstra (though I still love the place, mind you ;) ). I liked the big desks with locking drawer in RT during orientation.

UCLA Housing Tour

I'm not sure if this helps...

I'm still not quite sure about the dimensions, but I can kinda visualize it now. Thanks sleepwalker - I'd seen this before but had forgotten about it. Anyone have insight into how big a printer could rest safely on a top desk shelf? Thanks.

Shelves that come with the desks are about a foot deep.

When/how do we get our mailing address at UCLA?
Do people usually change the mailing address to the UCLA one once they start school?

^

Good, my printer's a foot deep.

does anyone know if there are one or two possible cable connections for the tv in the room in the dorms? (i guess specifically hedrick hall)

last year i know we had two of those big boxes with the ethernet ports in them, but i dont remember if they both had cable inputs in them

just wondering in case theres a tv plus if i want to get a tv tuner for the laptop and watch seperate shows or record stuff
