** Read Before Starting New Housing Thread**

Can anyone give me information about Hitch Suites such as the advantages/disadvantages of staying there as a freshman?
Is it more social than Saxon Suites or about the same?
How is it living in a triple in a suite … if anyone can share their experience I’ll be grateful!

Deuces, holy cow I just noticed it’s not HeNdrick. Wow, that’s pretty nuts–thanks. What do you mean with “RT, RV”? Also, is that 1’x10’ extra square footage that the other person told me about Hedrick really that big of a difference? Because the way the entry-way looks with the bathroom and everything in Hedrick, it really just looks a lot more spacious than De Neve, like much more than just 1’x10’. I look at De Neve doubles because that’s all the pics they have up, and putting another person in there looks terrifying…like, residence-hall terrifying.

I just got offered a double in Saxon (which is my second offer after I declined a triple in Rieber)

Does anybody know how strict they are about overnight guests in Saxon? My gf is living in her sorority house at UCI this year so I won’t be able to stay over there this year so I want her to be able to stay with me over in LA on some weekends.

I read that the maximum an overnight guest can stay over is 4 nights a month but since Saxon has private entrances I figure as long as we’re not being crazy being crazy no one will really notice.

Anybody know how strict they’ll be? Thanks and here’s to hoping you got the housing offer you wanted!

I’m an incoming freshmen and my housing offer was Hitch Suites, which I’m dreading…I submitted a CAR. I was just wondering, when do we know the results for the CAR??

I submitted my CAR from Plaza to Hall, what do you think- is the rush more from Plazas to halls or vice versa?

Hey. I’m an incoming freshman. I was just wondering if there are generally reachable outlets from the loft bed in a room if, for example, I wanted to use my laptop on the loft and plug it into the charger?

Thanks :)

You might need an extension to reach the outlet. It’s probably 4-8 feet depending on where the bed is.

I posted a thread a little bit ago but with no luck. So I’ll try it here.

So I’m considering moving into a co-op soon (the dorm prices are ridiculous) and I was wondering if you guys have or heard of any experiences or stories or anything of that nature affiliated with them. I stayed at one in Berkeley and I absolutely loved it. The dirt the people, it just had so much personality. I know there are three buildings so I was wondering what the differences/stereotypes of each are. How likely am I to get admittance either winter or spring quarter this year?

Also, I’m currently locked into a year long contract in the dorms. I’ve heard that you can appeal to end your contract. How long or difficult of a process is this?

Thanks!

What are all the differences between a shared dobule/triple and a private double/triple? Like meal plans, etc. all the differences?

AND AND AND ar you allowed to keep bicycles on campus? Like maybe ride it on Bruin Walk while going to Boelter Hall?

AND how much would a private bath, double occupancy cost?

Is Double Room (Two Occupants) a room with a private bath?

are incoming freshmen pretty much going to be placed in res hall triples?

this is a really random question, but are there any advantages to submitting the housing application early?

My two friends and I want to dorm together in triple room with a private bath in plaze, whats the chance of getting such room? We prefer to not have to share baths.

Do themed communities (i.e. health sciences) tend to mix freshmen/sophomores with juniors/seniors? I’m curious since residence halls are mostly freshmen and provide a different environment.

Also, is it the same with residential plazas (freshmen mixed with mostly upperclassmen)?

[2011-2012 Contract Housing Rates and Payment Plans (1004941)](http://map.ais.ucla.edu/go/1004941) should help answer most of your questions. Go to the housing.ucla.edu site and click around – they have virtual tours that show you what all of the different options look like.

And yes, you are able to keep bicycles on campus, although I can’t think of where you’d leave it, besides your room or something.

Incoming freshmen are basically placed everywhere that isn’t full… the continuing students already signed up for their rooms before you guys even put in housing applications. I’m not sure if there are numbers as to how many freshmen get what, but I know of a lot of people in all of the different types of housing, so it’s not impossible. You’d be lucky to get a double in any kind of room though.

There is no advantage to submitting the housing app early, as far as I know.

WorriedJrGirl, as long as you all put down your other two friends’ UIDs when you submit the housing application and have the same preferences for things, you should be fine.

I don’t know too much about the themed communities, but I’m in a residential plaza this year (Hedrick Summit!), and my floor seems like it’s a lot of freshmen. So it can vary… but I honestly don’t think it’s that big of a deal.

What time are we going to receive our housing offer?

I called their housing office because I didn’t get anything, and they said they were doing some of them this afternoon and the rest early tomorrow morning. I don’t know what “early” means though. I think their office opens at 8, so maybe that’s when the rest will be sent out?

@UCLA2014, did you live in Plaza when you were a freshman? is it really very very less social interaction?

Also, if I modify my preference now, will it mess out the housing office work? I have not got an offer yet.
