Reasonable Appeal or just a stretch?

So, I got denied from Cal Poly today, but it was honestly not that much of a surprise. My csu gpa was pretty low, or at least low for computer science which is extremely selective. I’m happy with my back ups, but Cal Poly always just was one of my favorites. Now, I think I may have a decent reason to appeal but I’m not sure if I should just move on and accept my situation. So, freshman year I had undiagnosed ADD, and it seriously had a tremendous impact on my academics. I got a decent amount of C’s which significantly lowered my GPA. After I got diagnosed and got medicated, since sophomore year I have only just got a couple of B’s and nearly have straight A’s. There was no where on the application to list this. My 35 ACT should attest to me saying that my GPA was not an accurate description of me as a student. So is this a reasonable appeal or are they looking for something much more serious? Thanks.

You could try. I’ve never seen a student post here that they won an appeal. I would politely state what you’ve said above and see if they’d recalculate leaving out your 9th grade GPA. I wouldn’t hold your breath, but your reasoning is very sound. If for nothing else, it would be cathartic going the writing, and you’d know you’d given it your best shot. I’d certainly include a note from your medicating doctor. Again, it’s a long shot. Look at the recent reply on another appeal thread posted by @Gumbymom. It has very useful information.
