Received regent invitation but rejected??

<p>I thought if we are invited, we are basically admitted. Both my friend and I received the regent invitation, but we all got rejected. Should this be happening?</p>

<p>maybe when u go to the dinner, they sign up your name and you get accepted there...but if you dont go, your no longer guaranteed</p>

i was (sort of) sure that i had gotten in to UCLA because of the regents invite, which is why i wasnt as scared.</p>

<p>but had someone told me that i wasnt gonna get in even with the regents...i would have definitely been more freaked out.!</p>

<p>It's actually 12000 admits. There are 4700 open slots, but UCLA accepts more, because people will reject the offer. So somehow, you guys are in the top 800, but not in the top 12000. lmao.</p>

<p>i thought regents was only awarded to top 800 who applied for it. More than 800 ppl must have been invited to apply. Because my high school alone had like 30. I talked to at least 15 ppl that had been invited, and that didn't include most of the top 10 ppl in my class in terms of GPA...</p>
