Recommendations

Hey, I was checking out the Common App website and when I clicked on Wesleyan, it said that the recommendations they required were 1 math//science and 1 english//humanities. Is this true? I couldn't find anything on the Wesleyan website.

Proabably. Call and ask (860) 685-3000

I'm pretty sure that they SUGGEST that... but I'm also pretty sure that it's not required. Not much at Wes is actually required; there's a way to get out of pretty much anything that doesn't suit your needs. If the two teachers who best know you and your work are both humanities-type teachers... so be it.

But yes, to be safe you might want to ask admissions.

Yes, Wes does recommend one humanities and one math/science recommendation. But it is not fatal if you don't do that. I know because my D was accepted ED for Class of 2010 with a recommendation from an English teacher and a History teacher.

They prefer it, to get a better idea of what the student is like all-around, I'm sure... but as jumble_j said, basically at Wesleyan, everything is pretty flexible. There's also not much harm in having two english/humanities teachers (if they're really both outstanding recommendations) and 1 science/math.

Good luck :D!

Alright, thanks for the help guys. I will email them to confirm but it looks like I'm safe with science + math recs.
