regents scholarship

what r the stats for people who win regents at berkeley? u know, test scores, gpa, and what not

can nebody please shed light?

Very high.

supposedly it's the top 1% or so of applicants. about 4% of berkeley students at any one time are regents scholars

ameer, I PM'ed you.

Does one apply for regent scholarships before they get accepted and before they enroll or is it for students already attending Berkeley?

it's for people before they get accepted and before they enroll, i'm pretty sure.

Am I right in assuming you don't apply for it but they automatically consider it when they look at your application?

Thanks!

yes, you are automatically considered for it once you apply to campus. Big hint: potential scholars are contacted ~Feb for further info and interview...but, it also means you are IN!

is there a link? :-)

this is a general link with FAQ about the Regents' and Chancellor's Scholarship (the full fancy name from when they were two separate scholarships (?)): http://students.berkeley.edu/fao/Scholarships/RCSscholars.html

blue is right, you are automatically considered bases on your application to Berkeley. Scholars are notified through "MyBerkeleyApp" which is available in January. I don't remember if the notification was immediately after access is granted to this, but I believe it may have been. You will have an option of interviewing in LA or coming over to Berkeley and staying with a student host. Good luck!

thnx guys, ill be checking my berkeley app then, im hoping for it very much, it would be the most amazing thing if i got that scholarship, but its unlikely.

It's really not based solely on scores/GPA. I know a guy who did NOT get it despite being 4.0 unweighted with a 1580/1600 SAT. Someone else who had a 1400 SAT did receive it. It's kind of odd really.

comprehensive review, demographics, etc
