I guess the moral of the story (if there were a story) would be not to spend too much time/effort/thought on the application. :P

Do OOS people get notified if they are a candidate for UCLA’s regent scholarship?

I’d imagine so, as there’s no interview; you just have to fill out a new app and get a rec letter all online

What was the subject of the notifying email? I’m worried I might have accidentally deleted it.

My daughter was invited to apply last year for Regents Scholarship for UCLA, UCB and UCSD. UCLA allows you to submit a recommendation which can never hurt. UCB invites you to interview and when you arrive at the interview you are congratulated on your admission to UCB and given a button stating that you have been admitted. If I recall, UCSD notified that she was being considered and that they would notify with admission decisions. She received scholarship offer from all three.

mytuesdaysmile: First of all, I love your screen name. The subject of the email is “2012-13 Regents Scholarship Application Invitation”

college4kids: Congratulations to your daughter! Do you know how many classes you get priority enrollment for?

You get 10 units of priority enrollment. Classes are usually 4 or 5 units.

@Rush10 Thanks! (: And aww, seems I didn’t get the email after all. Ah well.

Thiscouldbeheaven: 10 units per semester?

sorry, it’s 13 units per quarter

you can’t add additional classes during your first pass though.

UCLA does not award Regents Scholarships to OOS Students. All UCs but UCLA and UC Berkeley do.

I did not know the priority enrollment was limited. We were not told that. It also does not apply first semester freshmen year because freshmen don’t pick classes until summer when everyone else has already enrolled. My daughter ended up turning it down to go east.

anyone, please tell me
what is the subject of this email? Is it

Subject: Apply for a UCLA Scholarship $4,000-$17,500

Who’s the sender?

sender is

UCLA Alumni Association

^I believe the e-mail you are referring to is different from the one discussed in this thread. The UCLA Alumni Association scholarship and Regents scholarship are different.

[He’s a pretty terrifying guy](http://movieposternews.com/wp-content/The%20Sender.JPG)

I’ve received 3 copies of the email from UCLA (all from Ramirez, Alejandra aramirez@saonet.ucla.edu). Email subjects are as followed:

2012-13 Regents Scholarship Application Invitation
2012-13 Regents Scholarship application Invitation
Regents Scholarship Invitation Notification

Regent Scholarship only has $2000
Alumni Scholarship has more

Wrong – Regents scholarship provides scholarship for all financial need. No loans. It also has a bunch of other perks (priority enrollment, faculty mentor, meetings/outings with scholars and mentors/etc). Much bigger than Alumni Scholarship.
