college4kids, you have excellent kids. Did you recall last year, when your daughter got admission from UC San Diego. Did they ask your daughter to apply UC SD’s medical school?

Yes, before admission decisions came out, she got an application to apply for a program that guaranteed admission into medical school. She is not interested in medical school so did not apply. It sounded like a fabulous opportunity. I just looked and that email was sent 2/17 last year.

college4kids, thank you, do you know how do they pick the applicants? If a person apply to History as a major and has a very good stats, will that person still be invited? What is your gaughter’s major?

My daughter’s major was some type of Chemistry or Biiochemistry (it was different for different schools and I don’t remember specifically). I just went back and looked at the email for the Medical Scholars Program and it says: open to all California high school seniors, in any major, if they meet our minimum academic requirements: 4.00 GPA (as weighed by Undergraduate Admissions) along with a 2250 SAT or 34 ACT.

If I did not get a Regents invite yet, is it still possible to receive one?

college4kids, you are the best parent.
