Regents scores

My regents scores have been in the high 80s and low 90s, except one, which was a 65. Should I forget about Cornell with that blemish? I do plenty of extra curriculars and I made area all state orchestra on the violin. I started a school newspaper. I volunteer to teach at a music school. I'm in AP American, honors English, and honors math, the rest are regular. Next year i'm taking AP gov, AP english, AP enviro, and AP Spanish. I'm just afraid they'll see that 65 and immediately reject me.

Ask your school if you can retake the Regents. I got an 88 on my Geometry Regents which I self-studied for, didn’t liked the score, so I re-took it and got a 100. And that’s what it’ll say on my Transcript.

Regents aren’t really that big of a deal, but colleges do see it, and considering such a low score (and likely a high grade in your class), it’ll be an imminent sign to adcoms that your school does not offer a great standard of education and resorts to severe grade inflation.

Of course, you might have just had a bad day. Anyways, the point I’m trying to make here is, ask your guidance counselor if you can retake it.
