Ok, let me start off by explaining my situation. It's a bit complicated.
I'm a studio art major. I registered for my classes at orientation on June 13th. I got stuck with a horrible schedule! For studio art you have to take 4 foundation classes (8 hours a week each). You take 2 the first semester and 2 the second semester. They are restriced courses, so only art majors can take them. I ended up with both foundations on the same day and other classes in between. I would have to be in classes on tuesday and thursday from 8am to 6pm, with absolutely no breaks in between, plus my other classes on monday, wednesday, and friday. Now, I tried to change my schedule last Wednesday. I went to the registration page at 11am. When i tried to drop one of my art foundation classes and add it on a different day, it told me that the class was restricted. but it shouldn't be restricted for me since I'm an art major. I don't know what to do. Is anyone else in a similar situation? Is there something wrong with the registration system or did the professors block out all the art students who've already been to orientation? Please help me figure out what to do or who to talk to.

Contact the Office of the Dean of Students-they should be able to help you out further.

CALL your ADVISOR !!!

Sometimes the department makes a mistake. This happened to a chemical engineering friend of mine. Just talk to an advisor and they should be able to clear it up.

Ok, I’ll do it first thing in the morning then. Thank you guys so much for the advice!

I just talked to my advisor. And she said, “thats right.” Apparently they block people out on purpose. So basically, if you don’t get the foundation classes you want at orientation, you’re outta luck. BEWARE ART STUDENTS, they’re out to get ya.

It is probably worth checking again when tuition payment day ends. Spots open up in a lot of classes because people didn’t pay tuition and their schedules “disappeared”

Its not that the classes are closed. Because they’re still open. They just put on a “restricted” status to keep us from switching. Its pretty dumb in my opinion.
