Shoot i was practically asked by them to apply, waiver and everything!

For anyone who’s having difficulties logging in, what are your stats?

And like i said, it’ll probably be tomorrow. They go by work hours

argh now I’m really stressed. AU was one of my safeties I didn’t visit but I live in Australia so they can hardly hold that against me

@hannahrw7 I have a 3.7 GPA and an 1800 SAT score… not too bad right? I thought I would get in but I guess I’ll just have to wait and see. :(

Lets not get involved with stats right now.

I was able to create an account, it’s just that when I try to log in I see:

“Your account is not configured for accessing the myAU portal. Only current students, alumni, parents, faculty and staff may access the personalized areas of the portal.”

Is that what pretty much everyone is getting?

@hannahrw7 full IB Diploma, School Dux (our version of valedictorian), 2030 SAT, URM (African American)

Anyone getting an error message, make sure you’ve first set up your account, and then when trying to actually log in, use both the new ID AND the new password. I went through these steps and then kept using the new ID they had generated for me (the one that starts with D’s initials) and then used the code in the email. This is wrong. Make sure you are using the new ID and then the password YOU created when setting up the account.
When I do this, like a previous poster, I am able to log onto the OLD portal link at the bottom which brings me to a real account, just no info on admissions etc. It seems to be an account as if D is an existing student. However, I can’t log into the new one, and that is where I assume all the juicy info is….
So everyone keep the faith for now!

I’m a new poster, but I’ve been following this thread. I was unable to create an account also, and got the red message to make sure the ID matches the one in the acceptance letter. I looked up last year’s acceptance thread to see if this happened to anyone back then, and unfortunately, it looks like the inability to create an account correlates with a rejection. Of course, this might not be a definite thing, and there may be exceptions, but I’m losing hope myself.

Here are some posts from rejected applicants last year on CC:
- “Unfortunately, I think being unable to set up an AU account is correlated with being rejected/waitlisted - at least for me it was. I received official notification in the mail today.”
- “If registration on Student Portal does not recognize the AU ID from the bottom of previous emails- equals small letter.”

Look no matter where you are in stats you can always be rejected. Let’s focus on the fact that there is a tech problem. Maybe they’ll add ours tomorrow and configure them all at the same time, which is very logical.

There were other posts from previous years like “Another thing to reassure you guys who cannot log in to the portal right now: My friend hasn’t been able to log in all weekend- she lives in Texas- and she now was miraculously able to and she got accepted! Don’t sweat it if you can’t log in now :)”

I think you are all jumping the gun with your panic. I understand it but let me tell you why I think you are all still in the running.

This morning there were some of us that could get into the portal before it was shut off. There was a link to the old portal at the bottom. When you went there, in the personal section there was a link to “enrollment agreement Grad School of Comm”. It was in THAT link (and no one was a grad student) that the “Congratulations” letter came up. It was an odd place to find it but what was there did have the old AU ID that you got when applying etc. so I assume for those who saw it, it probably does mean there is an acceptance.

I can still log in and get that far, but that link is now GONE. So even if you could get in, You won’t find the congrats letter any more. That tells me that something has changed with the system during the period when you couldn’t make a new account. It may very well be that the fact that you cannot log in is simply because of the changes that they have made to the system and NOT BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T GET IN.

Wait for your letters. That’s the real answer. Don’t panic. I don’t think it is as over as you think it is. Best of luck to all of you!!!

Okay thanks, that makes me feel a little better! (: We’ll all just have to wait and see (and not lose faith!!). Hopefully we’ll all know within the next few days

Why would they give me a waiver and say they think I’ll be a great fit for the school and then reject me? :’(

I know! What a horrible tease! @singitbrookieg

Please notify me if any of you spontaneously get to log in

@lukethedukee, @ctorch, @heycall123 can you log back into the old portal and verify that like us, you can no longer see the enrollment agreement Grad school of Comm" link which is where we found the “congratulations” letters. If you do, then it won’t just be me telling people to stop panicking. The portal has CHANGED now and just because people got in this morning and you can’t now after the changes were made, doesn’t mean you are not in. Hopefully these people will respond and agree with me. (otherwise… maybe we have a problem but I don’t think so.)

Also, application fee waivers are tools that admissions reps have at their disposal to encourage volume of applications. They are often offered without any regard whatsoever to specific fit. You can’t read anything into that. Be glad it was a fee you didn’t have to pay. Nobody is deliberately trying to tease and torture. It’s just part of the toolkit.

I logged into the old one, and it was removed. I would not put a ton of stock into the logins, keep in mind that there are about 7,000 people accepted a year, and there is a storm up there, so it might take a while to get everybody in. Right now, it looks like if you can login, then you likely are in, if you can see your financial aid, then you are definitely in. Again, if you cannot log in, it does not necessarily mean that you were not accepted.

^^^^^ Thank you. Proves my point. Something has changed. Stop panicking. I can still see the merit/financial award but not the “congrats.” Which means they DID something. And whatever they did could also include making it so you just can’t get to where we got this morning.
