I think they do because they did last year. Who knows, though. I faxed in a copy of my appeal (just so that they got it early in case anything happened to the letter) but it still hasn’t come up in my USConnect. I’m going to email them right now just to check.

when did you guys send your appeal?
i sent mine on friday, received saturday morning

Where are you from? Did you do next-day delivery? I sent mine on Friday too.

^endless wait, when you say “received saturday morning”, do you mean that your USC status page changed to received? or are you just assuming cause you did express mail?

I’m assuming usc doesn’t do any online checks anymore and i doubt that they’ll contact you about receiving our appeal letters through the internet. the might possibly email or send a letter though. those are the only ways that usc has been contacting students this year. if you’d like to check though, i’d probably recommend calling up admissions or emailing them.

good luck to all who appealed (including myself)

oh, weird since they did the last couple of years, and the appealers were analyzing the updates lol. [not doing that again]
imma wait a couple more days for them to organize the mail, then i’ll email if nothing comes up.

^ i hope we wont have to deal with updates again…

dream: im from san jose, ca

everyone: i did usps express mail, and according to their tracking, it was received by the school

i didnot get a status update from USC or the like, sorry for the confusion

They replied to my email.

Message: I mailed my admission decision appeal a few days ago but I also faxed it (just in case the letter got lost in the mail or took longer than expected to arrive). The fax has not shown up in my USConnect portal and I want to make sure that USC has received the fax (if not the letter).

Response: We have received your appeal. During the appeal review process, it is not possible to check on the status of an appeal. Students whose appeals are granted will be informed by email on Thursday, May 13th. Letters to those whose appeal is not granted will be mailed a letter that day.

So last year I believe, if memory serves me correctly, the only status update we got was the date they entered when they had received and entered the appeal into the USC system. Then we waited for the appeal decision which did come by email. I can’t wait to hear how all of you got in for either Spring or fall on appeal! Make sure you all celebrate really big when your email comes. You all deserive it!

please keep us updated when you receive any information at all about your appeals.
thanks

Dream: That is great that they are letting you know so soon… Waiting for students to reject USC and figuring that they will know what their #'s are. I head tomorrow to LAX with 2sorientation on Tuesday and going to class to visit on Monday. I’ll let you know!

sigh … less than four weeks to go
at least we will know on a specific date and not have to constantly check usconnect

btw.
dream: congrats on 1000 posts! lol

I sent my appeal via FedEx and had someone sign for it. I did not have a counselor letter as we were on spring break. I did get 3 letters of rec from USC alumni. But, to tell you the truth guys, I am really happy with Cal Poly and it will save my parents a ton of money. Alll of my teachers love the school.

I am going to concentrate on getting great grades in college and leave the door open on transferring.:)

So, for y’all appealers, where are y’all putting down your deposits? I’m still deciding between GW and BU.
man, i wish may 13 could come sooner.

I don’t really have anywhere to put down… NYU and Wisconsin didn’t give me enough financial aid. My other option is Carnegie Mellon and I’m on the priority waitlist, but I don’t find out until May 5th and they still haven’t given me my financial aid package so I don’t even know if I should consider that an option just yet. :p

can anyone give me advice on writing an appeal for UCLA’s Design Media Arts program? I called UCLA to ask why I got rejected and they told me to contact the DMA program specifically to ask about appeals and rejection. I got this e-mail today

"Per the guidelines on the UCLA online application, a letter of appeal is sent directly to the Undergraduate Admissions Office. Please note that the Design | Media Arts department received many more applications than there are spaces available. In this extremely competitive environment, many talented and successful applicants are not recommended for admission. "

I know that some people get rejected for GPA or pre-reqs and when they write appeals they mention that their GPA has improved since they applied or something else that has changed/improved since they applied. But the reason this person gives me here is very general. I’m guessing my portfolio wasn’t up to par with their standards considering the limited spots and high expectations as a result of those limited acceptances. I’m not sure how I should approach writing the appeal. Any advice?

^i think you may be on the wrong board :)

this may seem kind of petty,
but if my grades have improved since turning in my appeal (i sent in a progress report, along with the transcript), should i bother letting USC know?

call,fax,mail…??

^ I’m wondering the same thing… I think it would be a good idea.

id always call up admissions to check if u can send stuff.

and congrats with the schools you got into dream. i know usc is your first choice, but i have to say, you must have had a very impressive transcript. best of luck to you man.
