Do you get a better chance of being accepted in a school, (preferably Berkeley) if you have an older relative, like a brother or sister that is currently attending the school? I know a person whose older brother attends UCSD and school officials told her that she has a high chance of getting accepted because her brother goes there. Is this possible?

weird. it would be nice, because my younger sister is going great at berkeley and it would be a nice boost.

Interesting; I’ve never heard of a legacy-like admissions system here, and I highly doubt one exists at Berkeley, but you never know.

I had some friends whose siblings were accepted to Cal, but I also knew people whose siblings were not. I don’t think an applicant has a better chance if you had a relative that previously attended/is currently attending the school because Berkeley doesn’t look at legacy status in admissions… unless someone in the family donated millions to the school.

im positive legacy is not looked at for berkeley admissions.

Seems so unlikely to be honest unless (like the above poster mentioned), someone in your family donated millions to Berkeley lol!

Ok. Thank You.
