reporting irregularities? (SAT II)

anybody ever done this? what happens? do your scores get cancelled, can you take it again? what about everyone else in the room?

see, it was a big issue at my testing site/room

people were looking through the book before they were supposed to

a girl started her writing essay as we were filling out the personal info

the same girl would not stop laughing/chuckling/wheezing all through the test, she also kept dropping her pencils. i don’t understand how you can drop your pencil every 10 minutes.

2 cell phones went off for like 30 seconds each, no confiscation of test

i saw someone with a sparknotes book DURING THE BREAK

someone had a calculator out for all 3 tests, and was using it. i think he had some sort of studycard program in his TI.

there was a basketball game going on outside

so, should i? i really want to…but if i was allowed to take it again, when would that be? and would it be available for colleges?

From a pragmatical standpoint, only report if you think you will be satisfied with the scores.
For #5, is that allowed? like if you took math first then biology 2nd and studied biology during the first break, would that be allowed?
Get a different test center next time.
My test place was awesome compared to my first. Only one other kid taking SAT II, and we started tests at 8:20 and I got out at like 9:25 (one test).

there is no next time =( im a senior....

any other comments? perhaps from someone who's done it?

p.s., i don't think any of those things are allowed

Why do these bother you? There's always going to be people who will do things that they are not supposed to do.

If you think that resulted in a low score for you and you want to...but, these probably aren't the people you will be competing with in admissions anyway.

well I don't think it affected me at all, and I'm expecting stellar scores, but I can always do better.....

is there anybody who can answer my original questions? ....no? that's unbeliable, NOBODY on CC has ever reported irregularities? wow...

Probably not. If it isn't going to affect your scores and you know the people there aren't going to get a good enough score to bother you even with their studying, why report? It will only hurt you.

ur right....but let's see if anyone else responds....

Scores could be held while the irregularity is being investigated. Since you are a senior, you don't want this to happen. You could report the irregularity after your scores are posted.

is there anybody who can answer my original questions? ....no? that's unbeliable, NOBODY on CC has ever reported irregularities? wow...

Of course not. We don't need to. Our scores are high enough. That elusive ten points doesn't bother us. We're CC.

mekrob maybe its not about the scores but the ethics. If you consider yourself an ethical person, or a loyal adherent to the basic tenets of ethics, then you would likely report it. You would not have to announce the names of guilty persons.

I was kidding. If he wants to then he can. But if you have to cheat, then you aren't going to succeed in college and life, so what's the point? But to report it, then there'd probably be a long process of legal crap that would just be pointless. They'd get to the same place anyway. I wouldn't be competing with them for slots at colleges, most likely.

so basically, nobody knows for sure what happens when irregularities are reported.....? BLAH

"so basically, nobody knows for sure what happens when irregularities are reported.....? BLAH"

Collegeboard sends the boogeyman armed with a hatchet after them.

I would get my scores, then report it. The proctor was lazy, and untrained (but paid, i assume). I would perhaps notify the test center (anonomous if you feel better) about the problems. They need to know. I understand the frustration, and when people ask why do you care...seeing people getting away with cheating is really frustrating. True it may not affect you directly, but it is distracting and annoying. Take care of businees when you feel safe.

I'm not exactly sure how it works, but it seems to me that if he were to do it, he wouldn't know the names of those who cheated and made irregularities. So then CB would either have to go through a long process of finding everyone at that room, get a line up, have him pick them out, etc. It just seems like CB might not want to go through all of that (and why would you) so then they'd just cancel all the scores, which would suck horribly for him since he's a senior and needs the SAT II's. And why would they just take one student's word for it? That could easily be used by people trying to destroy someone's chances at a top school. Like I said, I don't know how it works. Does anybody else?

report it, only the high scorers cheat on the SAT.

Don't report it man.

The only people who cheat are the ones who score low (1000-1200) range. Believe me, its not worth your time to be a snitch. LET THEM get screwed when they are in college, future tests, whatever, because it will catch up with them very soon.

Forget them, people cheat all the time, no worries. just dont u it yoruself and you'll be fine.

You think government officials don't cheat at all in life? This whole country is controlled by cheaters dammit. George Bush? Dick Cheney? George Pataki? All of them.

Cheating happens all the time in the world, you're only going to get yourself in trouble one day if you snitch on other people.

I'm not saying that cheating is good, I'm saying that its wise to keep your mouth shut.
