Request for W-2's...good sign?

Am I grasping at straws??
Do you think the request from the financial aid office for supplemental information is an indication that an acceptance letter is coming?
Just got to thinking about the # of applications they receive, and can't imagine they go ahead and evaluate those who might not be accepted. Anyone else get this?

I thought admissions were done on a "need-blind" basis. Meaning they don't take your financial status into consideration when coming to an admissions decision.

i hope it's a good sign as we also received a request for additional financial information from W&M.

I got the same thing. Did everyone get this?

Yes, I got the same request for additional information from the financial aid office. I think I'm grasping at straws too!! I keep thinking that with 10,600 applicants, how can they possibly request additonal info unless they plan to offer admission. I'll say this.................I don't think it's a bad sign, and quite possibly means that they haven't ruled us out!!!

The suspense is killing me.........................

I agree that it doesn't seem plausible to request the information from everyone. Maybe those who requested financial aid and completed the FAFSA? I'm pretty sure, though that W & M is not need blind in their admissions. A full paying out of state applicant would probably have an edge with admissions.

Beechbum: You are correct in your thoughts with regards to "need blind". Looking on other threads about this topic though, we're just speculating about the connection between the admission office and the financial aid office. The admissions office has to notify the financial aid office on a rolling basis, which students they plan to offer admission to. The financial aid office then puts together a package for those students based on their merit and need. Makes sense.........................but it's still grasping, I know :0) !!!

bluejay

I think you are correct about William and Mary not being "need blind". They are not known for offering great financial need packages. It's just so late in the game to be requesting verification from the financial aid office..................

Well, I guess we're all in the same boat and will just have to wait a few more weeks...good luck everyone.
