I just called and they said I was rescinded because I got a D in senior year. I wrote a letter but they never read it. DId this happen to anyone else? What should we do about this :(

They received my trancripts and unchecked the box and stated that I did not follow the senior provisions

i think they had to enforce their provisional acceptance thing because they hbad a record number of students enroll out of all the admits, i mean not everyone got dorms even if they signed before the may 4 deadline

to all of those that got rescinded because of grades...c'mon!! did you really think UCSD was only kidding about their provisions?! i mean it's really not that hard to earn at least a C in a class...jeez.

well i still wish you all the best. hopefully you'll take something like this more seriously next time.

It seems like it might at least be worthwhile talking to admissions (assuming they'll talk) to see what options you might have such as retaking your 'D' class at a CC and then transferring into UCSD in the Winter quarter or something. The worst they can do is say 'no'.

wow, ucsd is strict this year. usually a D would still allow students to attend the fall quarter. whats up with some many people wanting to come ucsd neways, its not that good of a school. I'd say go to CC and take ur GE's there and transfer to USC or some other prestigious school. in hindsight, thats what I would have done rather than jump to a 4 year university.

Eh USC is really good. Just in terms of admissions, no one at my school has ever gotten into USC, but almost half get into UCSD (Granted only about 15 apply to SC).

vu:
HAHA. maybe the reason for you hearing more kids get into UCSD than USC is because USC only has room for about 2,800 undergraduates each year while UCSD has about 20,000 undergraduates

I think that's funny, because kids from my high school applied to usc as like a safety/for scholarship money. Out of the 15 people I know who applied to usc, all were accepted, and none of them chose to go there. Even my one friend who got a half tuition scholarship. The colleges they chose instead were ucla, ucsd, nyu, ucb, and ucd. In the end, I guess it's just about personal fit. To me, ucsd is a great school - especially for what I want to study, and usc is not so much.

i didnt know that little tidbit about USC admission. I figured a school as well-known as USC would admit tens of thousands of undergrads.

For those who do not get their admissions reinstated, don't think that its the end of the world. Just go to a CC, finish up the GE requirements and transfer to UCSD or any other school you want, maybe to a school even better than the ones you were initially admitted to. You'll find out you save sooo much money, not to mention the classes are ridiculously easier. The lower division GE's are all the same anywhere you go. Also, you'll be much more prepared than those going from hs straight to a 4 year school. Good luck to those that have to deal with this situation, just know that you'll be fine as long as you go to school. It's not where you start, its where you'll end up.

the reason you didn't know that was because...i'm wrong haha sorry. got my info. mixed up...USC actually has about 16000 undergraduates, which is still a lot less than the 20000 undergraduates UCSD has
