LaFun is good, no doubt about it...but you can't eat all of your meals there, and Fisher's proximity to South makes all the difference. For you, you are about equally as far from South as you are from North...meaning you are in the middle of nowhere.

BTW prospective students, dorm pride is one of those crazy ND traditions.

Although Putsch was a little below the belt there, irish, I must agree...Sorin is by far the best. Nothing like being able to get to any part of campus within a couple minutes, and being right on God Quad...who doesn't think of the Golden Dome when they think about ND? Seriously though, we all have things we love about our dorms, and are totally brainwashed...but that doesn't mean we won't fight to the death about it...

where's the love for mod quad? yay pasquerella west! it's right by north dining hall, which we all know is the better of the two. i just love that high school cafeteria feel that north has to it. and plus, pw's by the library! who's the better pasquerella? p-dub, p-dub!

as DaKewlPimp69, i'm the expert on this front. I think that sorin is the best dorm because i live there. and because we've got da kewlest tightest, most pimpalicious "social gatherings" and because we've got the only thing at notre dame that's allowed to get high (our 1st and 2nd floor ceilings).

It's ok, he lives in Fisher, he doesn't know any better.

As far as Alumni is concerned, our rector is quite possibly the greatest human being in existence. Father George Rozum is amazing, and anyone in Alumni would kill for him, he's that awesome.

OUr building is known as the center of the universe, because we are. We're basically equidistant from SDH, LaFortune, DeBartolo, O'Shaughnessy, the Main Building, the Engineering Buildings, The Rock, and we're right on the main circle, the gateway to campus.

Also, Alumni is one of the most tight-knit dorms. It's relatively small, at 260 or so kids, and our senior retention rate in dorm is ridiculous.

Oh, and we're the only dorm with Greek letters, Delta Omega Gamma. As close to a frat as you're gonna get.

Actually, notre dame AL, Brady lived in Zahm during his freshman and sophomore years. He was only in Dillon for one year.
As a current student, let me say that Zahm isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

Zahm is the closest to a frat, hands down...don't even try Alumni. BTW, center of the universe = not really close to everything...everything just happens to be far from us. It is kind of like living in Carroll, though not as bad.

I may be outnumbered but I still have more college experience than all of you combined....I think. Also, I have also lived in O'Neill and been associated with Siegfried when I lived off-campus, so I have been around (BTW where is the Siegfried love...very underrated. O'Neill on the other hand, well, some of you know that I do not get along with their rector very well :(.

Anyways, long story short, I am glad you are all happy with your dorms...it just means that you won't wise up and try to overcrowd Fisher :)

S in Morrissey- Radio reports the size 8 x14, our son has a sink in the room which takes up the only walking space in the room.
Be prepared Morrissey IS CRAMPED...location is superb.

Yes, Morrissey was DRY, at the rector's welcome speech to parents this fall, he said there will be ZERO tolerance for alcohol. He let us know the previous Manorites- were " underachievers and proud of it", and he claimed success in getting some upper classmen (bad apples) OUT.

But, he allowed a Halloween party (with beer) on top floor, so guess he has losened up and more in line with other dorm policies.

And, for those of you who may HATE their dorms, they allowed from Morrisey who wanted to move out that option. My S staying put, loves his dormmates- Dorm of the Month two times this fall :)

My s is in Knott (mod quad) and he loves it. He's in a 3 room quad and the middle room is set up for watching tv and playing video games. The a/c was much appreciated after band practice on hot days. He and his randomly selected roommates all get along so well that they plan to stay together next year.

P-dub is pretty awesome. We have air conditioning, big rooms, big closets, and we're right by NDH and the library. And we're the girls interhall football champs for two years in a row!

I will say that Fischer does stand out for having the most disgusting bathrooms I've ever seen. Ducking below pipes while walking through the basement is also pretty exciting.

I really enjoy when people make fun of Mod Quad. It's ok to be jealous of our huge rooms and air conditioning, elevators, and spacious common rooms on every floor. The fact is that ladies drool over our orange beanies in Knott, and that we're the only dorm boasting a Division 1 scholarship quarterback as a starter on our interhall team doesn't hurt our reputation either.

I am a big fan of Alumni's rector, wouldn't mind seeing him switch over to Marion Burk Knott. What discussion of Alumni would be complete though without mentioning that they boast the lowest male dorm GPA?

I'm glad you guys enjoy working out at the Rock. I mean, whats better than lifting weights in a basement without air conditiong? I on the other hand prefer lifting barbells at Rolfs and not large stones from the middle ages at the Rock.

Plus, in all seriousness, I must say that while Knott doesn't yet have the tradition of some of the older dorms (since we just become a male dorm less than 10 years ago), it really is awesome being able to make tradition of our own.

Who's the better Pasquerilla? KNOTT HALL! KNOTT HALL!

Father George Rozum is the greatest human being on the planet. I've said it before and I'll say it again.

And, yea, those big rooms and air conditioning must be nice. Especially after that LONG walk from anything of any importance on campus back to your room. Class in DeBartolo? Thank god for AC, you'll need the cool-down after the cross-country hike.

And as far as the lowest GPA thing? Eh, who cares. We have a good time.

Father George was rector of Alumni Hall back when I was a student in the early '80's... Didn't seem to be overly obsessive about the rules back then, either...

My son is in Fisher and absolutely loves it.

I lived in Lyons and am thoroughly objective in saying it is, without any doubt, the most beautiful architecture of any dorm on campus...the frosh rooms are tiny, but junior and senior dormered rooms on the fourth floor are nothing short of amazing. So, in my absolutely unbiased opinion, Lyons rules! Unfortunately, guys don't have this option, but I guess life isn't fair that way :)
