Residence halls

Especially since Lyons used to be a guys dorm...yeah, God doesn't love us. I agree, I like Lyons overall.

Now that we've had a complete rundown on MALE dorms, I'd like to hear some more about the FEMALE ones. Irishgirl seemed to be the only one commenting.

Lyons is awesome, smarterturtle!

Irish, the reason they let such a wonderful piece of architecture move into the W column is because it now smells a lot better. No offense to the M gender, but every guys dorm used to smell like dirty socks and, from what I've observed visiting my son....still does! :)

Oh yes Kevdude, Knott is just so far from class. That 6 minute walk from DeBartolo REALLY takes a lot out of me...

DDJones-just returned from dropping son off for this semester. Re:dirty socks, I think Moms must have the knack for smelling dirty socks! When we moved son back into his room, I just threw away the remaining socks (the ones that did not make it home for break) and refurbished with new ones. It just wasn't worth trying to get those socks clean, if you know what I mean!

When we picked up our son at the end of last school year, we asked him where his extra sheets were. He acted as if he'd never known that... Something tells me my notion of rotating sheets to launder them never came to be.... Something also tells me the experience is not all that uncommon...

If the difference between male child and female child in prom expenses and trappings is anything like the difference between the two genders in dorm decor, I am in trouble!

As per Morrissey, Lyons, Howard in the south quad troika--yes, those frosh rooms are tiny. But it all pays off as an upperclassman. I loved living in Lyons, particularly, as a runner, I was very close to the lakes...as well as the Rock. Downside was getting to some of my classes...

Regis and Brady Quinn both were Zahmbies.

Brady Quinn also lived in Dillon-Junior Year?

Y'all want to be in Duncan. That's for sure. We are envied by everyone on campus for our rooms right now and y'all can help build a tradition unlike any other.

Go Highlanders!!

from my visits to the campus i've really liked Alumni, Dillon (even though they're rivals), and Duncan seems like it would be cool too. actually most of the dorms on south quad. and the south dining hall is definately the best. great location relative to the rest of campus too.

Brady Quinn left Zahm because it, uh, sucks. And who cares about Regis? Julius Jones lived in MoTown, got kicked out, went to Phoenix with his brother and came back to Carroll. Now he plays for the Seahawks.

And everyone knows that South Quad is better. Though I am partial to NDH, they have better chicas up there, and better grilled chicken and make your own pizza. As for Duncan, I haven't seen it in person yet, but you can bet that in the future it will receive a proper welcome.

You'll always find a lot of Carroll haters who say how its so far away, but the funny part is none of them have ever been there. While not ideal, its less than 5 mins from south quad, so its more than tolerable. And its basically like a frat cuz its so tight knit, you'll know all the kids in the dorm within a few months, a huge difference from some of the bigger dorms who have 300+, making it impossible to get to know everyone.
And finally, it is the closest dorm to SMC.....

Who cares about Regis?! Last time I checked, he was about the biggest non-athletic ND face/supporter out there. He's kind of a big deal around campus.
