Has anyone here had to file a residency application? How long did it take before you got your response? (and also, was it by mail/email, or do you check WA?)
I submitted my residency app in November, and have not heard anything back since. I'm 99% sure I classify as a resident, but UM kinda messed up...
Anyway, should I to call, and will they give me any info over the phone?

I had to fill out a residency application because I had worked and attended college out-of-state in the past five years. The university alerted me about my status (approved) via postal mail about 3-4 months after I had submitted my application.

I remember it took a long time. like 3-4 months for them to get back to me.

Ah OK, guess I have to wait a bit then…
But this means I can’t be considered for any in-state scholarships until then though?

Officially they had told my son 8 to 10 weeks when he had submitted in October last year. We received it around mid-December. He was offered a scholarship four days after the notification, so it seems like it’s possible they hold off until it is cleared up. But that’s just a guess. Call them and ask them.

I’m doing it this year too, cause my parents are divorced and my mom lives in Ohio. My dad also works in Ohio but pays Michigan taxes. I have lived in Michigan my whole life. I was told by the people in the office that I should be approved for residency, but heard absolutely nothing yet. So we’re in the same boat. Calling them can give you a bit of better insight, but unfortunately it doesn’t speed them up.
