Retaking a 2280?

It was my first try. 800 for writing, which also happens to be the most irrelevant section :(

I am an immigrant, so I know my score is decent compared to other ESL students'. I was recently accepted to a college prep program for low-income students; since a big part of the program is SAT tutoring, the people there want me to retake SAT.

Is this score good enough for HYPSM, or should I retake it to show them that I put efforts into improving my stats?

Is your CR below 750? If so, I’d give it another shot.

Congratulations on the score of your first SAT, Machiavellianist. At first blush, I thought “No way would I suggest a re-take”, but then I considered marvin100’s reply. I agree with with marvin100; depending on your scores in critical reading and math, you may want to re-take for a better subscore. If your scores in critical reading and math were even at 740 each, that might make it slightly less appealing to re-take, but it sounds like your college prep program officials are giving you good advice. Good luck!

I think you have a very good score, but if you’re willing to pay for another test, go for it!
