I have been admitted into UCI for Fall 2009. However, I received a D last semester in Calculus. I notified the school immediately around last December or so. I later decided to drop out of Calculus because I knew if I stayed I would get another D. My other grades are A's and B's. I am taking rigorous classes (AP English Literature, AP US Gov., & Econ Honors). What are the chances of having my admission revoked?

For the last time ppl ONE D will not kill you!

not only that, but I dropped the course. they sent me an e-mail notifying me that they will review my application again.

I don’t think they wouldn’t not consider not revoking you.

Nastynate clearly doesn’t know the UC system. You must have a C or better in all a-g classes. Ask your counselor whether calc counts since you have 3 other years of math. Otherwise, they’ll probably let you retake it this summer but you must talk to UCI.

supposedly calculus counts. i wonder if there are any incidents where someone received a D and still got accepted into UCI

I don’t think they wouldn’t not consider not revoking you.

There, that wasn’t so hard. Remember, kids: double negatives are BAD.

You need to go to UCI with a good attitude about retaking it this summer. You can probably do an online course. If it counts they have every right to rescind you, give them reason not to.

I’d say the chances are moderate that you’ll be revoked. First of all, you got a D and the UC schools require a C or better in all courses. Second, I’m wondering if when you dropped Calculus you notified the school; otherwise they accepted you assuming you took a certain rigor of courses that you didn’t actually complete.

The email they sent you is a bad omen; if they had known all the info (D, dropped class) and accepted you anyway then from their point of view nothing has changed and there would be no need for a review.

I sent letters as soon as everything happened so when they accepted me I assumed they accepted me knowing about my following conditions, but I suppose I just have to wait since everything is out of my control now. =]

Not only wouldn’t I fail to say that I don’t know how bad negatives are or aren’t, but I don’t think it would never be incorrect to negate negative assumptions about doubles.

You’re right, that wasn’t so hard.

^ curls up in corner and sobs

^^ Too too funny.

i am also worried, i have a D in Honors chemistry and 2 Cs in regular classes and 2 Bs in AP classes…my acceptance letter did not say to complete the course in a “successful” manner meaning it didn’t say i have to have Cs or above. Im going to Miami university…but im afraid they might revoke me b/c of my D and Cs…I really hope they don’t…

Miami U in Ohio?

Call admissions and offer to take it in summer school at the local CC; instead of revoking you, they may make completion of the course a condition of admission come fall. Don’t just wait and see- the UC’s can be slow and you do not want to get an revocation letter when it is too late to do anything about it. Write down who you talk to and what day and time you talk to them. Good luck.

yes miami of ohio
