RHP or no??

I’m looking to apply to RHP and I was wondering if it’s a good idea. This isn’t a what-are-my-chances post, I just need some advice. RHP looks amazing and USC is one of my top choices for a school anyway; I can’t wait to get out of my small town and LA seems about the furthest from it I can get. However, I’m also extremely interested in other schools and Ivies and particular. I have a decent enough shot as any of the rest of the applicants, seeing as I’m a 4.0 student with near perfect standardized test scores, but even I know that’s a crapshoot. I’m also interested in other great universities such as University of Michigan where I definitely have more of a shot, but I haven’t really left my corner of New England. The RHP website seems to want you to spend your whole college career at USC, but I feel like that’s choosing my college before I’ve even heard about or seen any others. Does anyone have a suggestion on whether to apply or not?

My son was accepted and started classes on Monday. So far he is thrilled, but it’s pretty soon to tell. My older son looked at it, but wasn’t interested…he really wanted to finish his HS experience with his class. It really depends on you. I would say apply…you don’t have to accept it if you decide this year that you really want to be somewhere else. Are you a junior? The application is due Dec. 1, I think. Can you visit a few colleges? Have you visited USC? Carnegie Mellon also has a Junior early admission program. It’s a good school, too…depending upon your area of interest.

In a similar situation and looking for some input… When reading the letter I thought it would be super competitive, but now that I’ve looked into it a bit, that doesn’t seem true…

@MsMommy Would you mind PMing me your son’s stats so that I can see how I stack up?

Literally, I’m so worried for this application. I’m applying because I’m interested in their International Relations program, but it really depends on what major you want to apply to. From what I can tell, USC has a fairly strong business and IR program for undergrads, but I don’t think they’re particularly renowned for their other subjects. I could be mistaken, though.
Like, my first choice would have been Rice University (my sister attended and I’m a Texas native), but if I get into USC as an RHP applicant, then I’ll most likely stay at USC for my entire undergrad education.

Remember SC has strong study abroad programs. There 50 or more choices on five continents.

If you havent submitted the application by now, or even started, there is not a great chance of you getting accepted
