Just checking in, fellow prospective owls

edit,

I used a banana peel as my picture. Get it? A peel! Lolz

^Did you really? That’s hilarious. I love it.

I wonder how much they pay attention to the signatures. Does anyone know why Rice has the box in the first place?

I took a picture of Superman and Batman in the “Superman Cafe” videos on youtube (made by the guys at HISHE)

I got accepted. I cried when I found out.:D

I used a picture of Bob Ross

Does anyone have a link to the statistics on early decision (accepted v. rejected v. deferrals) released last year because of Rice’s mistake in sending acceptance letters to everyone?

Thanks in advance

@ kamnn1

This is the only link I can find:

[Future Owls](<a href=“Office of Admission | Rice University”>Office of Admission | Rice University)

I heard that this ED pool of applicants (class of 2017) was even more competitive than last year. Many more were deferred or denied. I predict that only 14-15% of regular applicants will be accepted.

^ I found it here:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/rice-university/1258547-deferral-2.html
apparently out of 1231, 306 were admitted, 127 deferred, and 798 rejected

I’m glad, at least, that Rice doesn’t seem to defer near as many applicants as other schools ;o

Does anyone know if RD decisions come out before April 1st? That just seems too late in the whole decision-making process for those kids who live too far to visit pre-acceptance.

Kamn1 - those were rates from 2011 (2012 freshmen). I don’t think anything has been published yet for the freshmen of 2013.

~ msmom&dad, yeah i know we wont get those states until later. i was just looking for previosus stats to get an idea of how many people they defer each year
@needavacation, last eyear decisions came out 3/23. not a huge difference for your purposes though.

I agree with poetgrl.

Lots of spelling errors in post #293 but I agree with poetgrl too.

^ yeah sorry, phone was being weird.

What are the chances of being accepted after being deferred during ED? (ARCH program)

Fyi, the Common App is on EST, not the time zone of the person submitting the app. It’s easy to forget that, which is one reason to submit your app a couple of days early, just to be safe.

Just curious…what does the acceptance letter look like? I’ve heard that the rejection comes through email. :/

My daughter got accepted through email. On March 23rd she got an email with the subject line" Your Rice Admission Decision". A few days later the letter came.
