I plan on majoring in physics

One more week…

Biochemistry and I am so excited only one more week to wait… How large of a feat is getting accepted into Rice?

So we find out next Friday!? Or is everyone guessing haha

^I think so. Someone posted a few pages back about how s/he called and they said they’d be released next Friday.
It’s also in line with the last 2 years or so; they’ve been releasing about a week early on a Friday.

Yea, every evidence points to next Friday. Can’t wait Dream college for sure.

Yep, it’s definitely one week from today.

[Until then, here’s a countdown to the decisions notification.](<a href=“It's almost”>It's almost)

22nd it is then? Nice! Can’t wait! :D

22nd… and I thought I was going to have to wait till the 1st April :P

@Himanshu
Have you not applied to any of the same universities as me xP haha
Good luck bro!

@raith Same to you bro! which others have you applied to?

The ones that I am still waiting for are:
Duke
Rice
Stanford
Princeton
Cornell
Dartmouth
UPenn

On the 22nd I hear back from Kenyon, Grinnell, Bowdoin, Wesleyan, and of course…Rice! I hope I get into Rice. I regret applying to a bunch of small liberal arts schools. In fact, the only “bigger” schools I applied to were Rice, Wash U, Brown, and Stanford – the latter two which will probably reject me, and I’ve already been rejected at Wash U. I would take Rice above them all any day!

It’s almost worse to know that it will be the 22nd than not to. I just want to know! It’s highly unlikely that I’ll go to Rice and it’s driving me crazy anyway and I’m on spring break so I don’t even have school to distract me. These next five days better go quickly!

Does anyone know what time emails typically go out? Is it 5pm EST? I’ve heard that’s the standard but I’m hoping they send out decisions really early in the morning instead haha.

If you’re on the East Coast you’re one hour ahead of Rice, so I’d start looking on the hour starting from 3 PM until 7 PM.

I’m on the West Coast, so yay for being 2 hours behind. I have less time to worry. xD

@miss why is it unlikely you will go to rice?

I have half tuition at least, hopefully full if my interview went well, at USC, and since I like USC more than I like Rice, I don’t feel it’s worth the extra 20-40K a year.

^ they are two very different schools in two very different locations.

Does you guys think it looks worse that I didn’t apply to very many big name schools? If you’re looking at most major rankings, Rice is by and far away the best school I applied to. I don’t think it’s a total reach for me with my stats, but I’m worried that it still doesn’t look great. It seems like everybody applying to Rice is also applying for lots of other better schools.

No, that’s not bad. If you wrote which schools you applied to on your Rice app, it may look better because maybe Rice would think you would went if you got accepted, thus increasing their yield. But then again, they could also just think that you didn’t mention the more selective schools.

@lauwai, same here!! I got admitted in the Early stage and I am also planning to major Physics, but as I am planning a dual major (hopefully I am not underating its work load…), I am having a hard time choosing my secong major. A Physics-Philosophy combo would probably be my favorate:)
