runallday4, for me, it said on the Common App (and on Esther) once the schools forms were submitted.

What are my chances?

Standardized Testing: Above 75th percentile for admits.
Grades: Average for admits
Teacher rec: Good
Common app essay: OK
Supplement essay: “lolwut”
Why Rice essay: OK
ECs: OK (no hook)

My transcript showed up the day after all the other information. I guess they have to manually check for it, so no worries.

IceQube, I’d say you have decent chances seeing as you have good test scores, however the fact that you have no hooks and you apparently didn’t do so hot on the supplemental essay is disconcerting.

Well, my high school info is finally showing up on common app, although it’s not yet showing up on Esther either. I guess it’ll show up in a few days. I’m in an “affected state” so I guess it doesn’t really matter since I was given an extension to the 5th.
I really just want to know if I got in or not. Can’t wait to start my senioritis. The second half of this term has already been worse than the first half Also, I’m really curious as of whether of not the number of ED applicants went up a lot. I’m hoping not so it’s not too much more competitive, but then again, they just had their centennial celebration which should mean lots of publicity for them.

@IceQube, I’d say you have a good chance considering your test scores, and from what I’ve seen about you on HSL, what you consider an “OK” essay is probably still really good.

The anxiety is killing me. Julie Browning said they expected over 1,000 applicants. I’m hoping it’s not more than 1,500. I hadn’t thought about the Centennial though…

Am i the only one who hit the submit button on the supplement at 11:58 CT?

What is an Esther account? My app is submitted and I got confirmation, but I am not sure what an esther account is?

@freedom2succeed. Definitely not.

I hit it at 10:54 CT. (I thought it was all going by Eastern time).

@corvenzo, did your stuff show up received yet on ester. It said my supplement has not been received and I’m starting to get worried.

Got my Esther account … logged in … not much to see.

Using your Esther account, you can check the status of your application for Rice U.

I’m assuming that Esther is the name of the program/software Rice uses.

@freedom2succeed Yes all my stuff is showing up as “received” on Esther. If not, the only thing that may be a concern for you is that I’m pretty sure the deadline goes by Eastern time. So the deadline for Central time zone is actually 11:00

I am not a patient person, so this wait is killing me. With 33 days and 12 hours to go till December 15th I don’t know if I can take the wait much longer. Also, we only have a few days left till the end of our first marking period, and after that there will be nothing I can do to improve my chances at Rice, so I’ll just be waiting :(

Are you guys freaking out? Or is it just me?

^ Just calm down. There’s nothing you can do about your application now, so why worry? Have fun, stop worrying, finish up your other applications. Above all, though, realize that Rice isn’t the only place you’ll be happy at. Sure, most people here want it really bad - but that doesn’t mean you won’t be happy at your second or third choice, if it comes down to it.

@runallday4 You’re not the only one. 33 days…

I’m freaking out too! I’m doing ED as well. Since I applied through QuestBridge, I have till November 15th to send in my Supplement. I’m planning on sending it in today. Kind of cutting it close…:/

But good luck to everyone! Hope you all get accepted!

@senior13rs, do you find out on Dec 15th with us? or no?

My advice is to just get it in. It’s a lot less stress once you know it’s out of your hands. There’s still stress, but a lot less.

At least last year, the QB applicants were notified of decisions on Dec 1 (for all schools they ranked). Some schools would then allow them to “re-enter” the early decision/action pool, but most will just defer to RD after the 12/1 decision.

I cannot handle this wait. It’s like…being seven and trying to fall asleep on Christmas eve. I AM SO ANXIOUS.

Yup! I still get my admission decision on December 15! Yea I sent in everything today. Hopefully it will show up on Esther tomorrow or I am going to freak out!
