i’m really putting off my RD sups in hopes i get in…
WHAT I’m truly surprised! Yes, it’s in ShanDong. Really close to the sea.
I don’t know about it being beautiful though…haha. The beach is really nice though.
My daughter applied last year. It just appeared in her portal. A few schools sent an email a couple of days in advance to let her know when decisions would be posted but Rice was not one of them.
same… im gonna be in a hole if i dont get in and have to fill out all my RD apps.
if the decision really comes out on Friday… should I try to get internet access on the plane and probably cry in front of a plane full of people, or check it at home but mentally suffer during the entire 14 hour flight help me out.
@JenniferFeng2000 I’m going to be on a plane that day too. I guess we should look before, because that way we can work on our RD supplements on the flight.
Thanks for sharing the historical trends for decision dates of the last many years. This is helpful. If anyone finds out any kind of updates as for timing, please post for the rest of the group. Thank you!!!
Hey guys I’m a Houstonian also applying to Rice, quick sum:
GPA: Low 90s at a school which does all IB Courses, this is for first term senior year which is my lowest.
SAT: 1530,
I do 4 HLs: Physics, Chem, Calculus, and Economics
I also have taken separate math classes at the small private school designed for me and a few others.
I currently take the MIT Linear Algebra course alongside regular Calculus
I do robotics for around 40 hours a week and our team made it to World Championships last year.
I played soccer for a few years at a decent level, playing for my school.
I am Russian and completely fluent in English, Russian, French each studied for 13 years.
I volunteer regularly by myself and with family/friends, I also did quite a bit with Harvey recently.
I worked at Rice in the Pasqual lab over the last summer, and got recommendations from the professors.
I have gotten some AMC awards, and am a leader/part of a few clubs.
I was just wondering what you guys think?
Also does everyone have the two forms on Esther? The housing and the release form?
Probably but this can just be so nerve-wracking.
i dont have any forms on esther. Maybe because i didnt apply for financial aid?
Are you sure? There is a big tab with “Housing 2017-2018”, I forget where specifically.
Dont see it at all. It says office of financial aid and faculty staff giving. Thats it.
Under Student Services?
Why would there be a tab with “Housing 2017-2018”?
I think It was because I was considered a Visiting Undergraduate at rice over the summer.
My son did not match trough qb. He applied ED after that. Yesterday, someone from Rice emailed him, called him, called his hs counselor and Called me. They say he was missing the early Decision contract or something like that. Is that a good sign in anyway?
@Xer2022 Nope… you need to sign the contract in order to be considered ED applicant. Since there are only one/two days left before ED decision comes out, I’d suggest that you complete the contract immediately.
I wish the results would be posted today, I hate not knowing
i dont even see student services LOL you’re getting me nervous…
Best of luck to all of you. I remember applying for colleges in 1992. I got in to my first choice and love my university. My son is applying ED to Rice. As a parent, I think he is great, but in looking at some of the numbers that some of you are putting up, not sure his chances are good. Just curious…I live in Houston and was raised here, but for those that are not from Texas, is there one thing in particular that has Rice #1 on your list? Good luck!!
I’m from China and studied in US high school for four years. I visited Rice and just fell in love with it. I think it’s because of the vibe of this place really matches mine? It just felt right to ED Rice. Of course, I also considered that Houston is a rich city, the China town is AMAZING, and there will be many local job opportunities.
