Rivals?

hardy har har
how very original

You know I always thought it would be fun to have a Penn vs Penn State football game...we could fill Franklin Field for the first time in...decades?

can we throw toast AT the psu kids
then i'd come

Franklin Field is full every year - the Penn Relays.

if wharton didn't exist to save your guys' @$$es, you'd be so low in the rankings

thank you for that contribution silly rabbit, this board is not for you

my interviewer (Penn engineering '86) said Penn's main rival is Princeton--that at Penn you learn to hate Princeton because it represents the opposite of the "Penn attitude." He referred to it as insular and isolated. Who knows if that's true...that's just what he learned at Penn (and I think he is to be trusted...his father and uncle went to Penn, as did his sister and brother)

paro46 i'm just defending cornell

its true though, my interviewer from penn even admitted it

i said thank you.
jeez

good thing we have wharton then, eh? thank u god.

chillax man, no need to get worked up

and you're very welcome. glad i could clear that up for you :)

I love Penn don't get me wrong but honestly, who has heard about Penn outside the United States? The Wharton Business School carries more name recognition than Penn and that's just sad because that's just one specialized school in it. At least Cornell holds some international prestige, even if it's in the engineering realm.

I agree. But on the other hand... i don't think name recognition carries much weight beyond the first 3 years of your employment. After an Ivy league education gets your foot in the door- it's 100% up to you to reach your potential. Don't be peeved if you see some StateU person getting that promotion over you. Being an Ivy-Leaguer does not entitle you to anything. So bottom line- who cares about Prestige?

International prestige is Harvard and other schools with strong engieering departments. Who cares what other people think becasue unless you go to Harvard, the local state school, or a college big for sports (OSU, Michigan, Florida, Duke, UNC, etc) normal people in America will have heard of your college. However, it is not these uneducated people that matter, it's people that know that Penn is a good school who will hire you because of the name. You can get a good job with a 3.3GPA from Penn (or thats what a recent SEAS grad told me). You probably need a higher one from Texas, which has more name recognition over seas.
