Hi, I've been interning at NIH since the last summer. However, I was wondering if (for next summer), I should continue interning at NIH or try to intern at a prestigious program like MIT's RSI or Telluride or Yale. Basically, I was wondering, would RSI (or another similar program) be really good for my resume (even better than NIH?) or would NIH do just as well?

NIH is pretty prestigious, but TRY to get RSI if you can. NIH is definitely prestigious, but RSI is basically an entry key to any school you want if you can actually get in. The problem is that it’s almost impossible to get into RSI (seriously, it has like a 1% acceptance rate). It is widely considered to be more difficult to get into than HYPSM. However, the thing about RSI is that admissions is based on region, so if you live in a less competitive region you have decent odds of getting in.

What is a HYPSM?

Also, what about MIT’s MITES program? is that as good as RSI? and what about Telluride or interning at Yale?

First of all, you have to be a minority to do MITES. Although it is not at the same level, it is close, and still very prestigious.

Telluride is about the same level as RSI, but focused on humanities.

I have no idea about interning at Yale. Haven’t heard of it so, probably just another pay-to-get-in program…

Is Asian considered a minority?

And also, what are some other really prestigious and competitive programs like RSI, MITES, and Telluride?

@aria. lol i wish… but no.

ummm, check the summer programs forum.
