Rutgers Early Action for Fall 2022 Admission

Both SAS and Business

Doesnā€™t make sense to me. Your SAT alone should have gotten you at least SAS

My friend with a 4.6, 1410 SAT also got waitlisted from SAS and RBS tooā€¦ somethingā€™s up

I wonder if they are waitlisting people because they didnā€™t have enough time to evaluate. These numbers are well above the average admitted last year

There is something going on there. Could be they ran out of time but they shouldnā€™t have. If those high stats apps were for computer science, they may need to start setting different expectations and changing how they admit.

My daughter applied in early September, they had her sat scores from last year (I verified), and her gratuate transcript (no srar needed or wanted), but was still deferred and then admitted a few days ago. It should have been an easy review for SAS in a non-competetive major.

Iā€™m confused too, I did have issues with my SRAR with them, but I thought we resolved it, after I emailed them and called them multiple timesā€¦ Iā€™m worried now that they wonā€™t consider my appeal

This is not the same as deferring the review. Waitlist does not buy more time; it is a conditional acceptance based on capacity.
Rutgers, like other schools, likely has no idea what its yield rate will be in this unprecedented year of students submitting apps to 20+ colleges. Therefore it has no idea how many students it needs to admit to fill its incoming class size target. ( target/ yield rate = # admits)
There is an inverse relationship between the yield rate and number it needs to admit, therefore, as applicants start to withdraw in mass and this rate becomes more predictable, they will be able to start pulling from on the waitlist

Sounds like RU is a real head scratcher for so many. Son admitted to SAS in December, just rejected at RBS today after deferral (app was submitted in Sept.). NJ residents and parents attended RU not that seems to matter much if at all. Strong enough apps to get Direct Admit to Kelley, Smeal and Lerner but not RBS. Oh well, now to figure out OOS tuition. Good luck to all.

Sorry to hear that. Same applicant admitted to multiple schools in Rutgers. I have no idea how they calculate yield and decide there is no space in RBS.

it is likely easier for RBS, COE & Pharmacy given these are most competitive, therefore fewer students choosing them as backup to another RU school- although it does happen.
Your point is valid in that, unlike universities that admit to only 1 school, Rutgers has a more difficult time than most in this new wild cycle w/ predicting yield. My daughters will be withdrawing/ declining acceptances from 2 RU schools this weekend- hopefully others do the same to open some space

Bummer! I know how eagerly youā€™ve been waiting for a response. :confounded:

How do you withdraw an application? I see ā€œEnroll Nowā€ on the portal, but no way to decline. Now that my daughter has gotten into her first choice (SEBS), Iā€™d like to free up her space in the other two schools.

I would assume once you enroll that it will cancel the other offers.

Iā€™m not sure it will really open up space though. Itā€™s all part of their anticipated yield rates.

Click on enroll now and there is a withdraw option. Not sure if you need to go in through the ones you want to decline.

Thanks!

I havenā€™t received anything yet and I got deferred and Iā€™m scared that itā€™s going to be a batch of rejections

This explains a lot. I was blasted here by @NJFather and a couple of others.

Rutgers portal was a nightmare. The whole SRAR thing was another nightmare.
I believe you sent me to an outside vendor link for the SRAR?
My DD emailed Rutgers a half dozen times regarding the whole thing. No one sent another link to complete the SRAR. The checklist changed weekly with everything checked off, then the SRAR thing needed again.

Finally, she decided to withdraw her application due to her frustration and lack of communication. She never did complete the SRAR.
She got that NetID email, so she logged in, and a month after withdrawing her application.

She was admitted to New Brunswick; College of Arts & Sciences (the school she applied to). :woman_shrugging:

To quote my daughter, ā€œHow does that even happen?ā€

Obviously, they have some growing pains with the new portal. However, we probably would have been more patient and less stressed if they had said something to DD in her emails about the wonky portal.

She liked NB, but she has since moved on.

Congratulations? Iā€™m sorry this happened. Itā€™s really hard to get good info from them. Iā€™m sure your daughter will end up in the right place!

Does Rutgers financial aid and scholarship start to come out this week?

I believe so starting yesterday, there was an article released yesterday morning that said some students would begin receiving aid letters yesterday as the article was highlighting the Scarlet Guarantee program.
