Rutgers Presidential Scholarship c/o 2015

u should. your school can give out percentiles if necessary, which is what my school did.

Mom2010nj,

You still have to fill out the FAFSA to receive the scholarship.

gg1701,

You should definitely appeal. Ny son’s school didn’t give out ranks but still ranked for the colleges, which is what your school might do.
Do you have any idea where you would rank? If you think it’s top 1 or 2%, I think you have a good shot.

Mom2010nj:
You do not need to file the Fafsa if you are getting a purely academic scholarship. You can call and confirm to check, if you like. That is what I did.

I’m pretty sure that I am in the 3rd or 4th percentile. But I’m out of state, so maybe that has something to do with it?

to nritya: Did you email/or call etc to make the appeal?

I called financial aid and was told you do not need to file FAFSA for the merit scholarships.

Thank you very much for all of the replies of my question. My D told me she got a “What’s Next?” list from Rutgers and that is my Action Item due by Feb. 15. My D will be my first kid goes to college this Fall. I have never filed FAFSA before and don’t know if I need to file it or not since she’s got a full ride to Rutgers.

I think I’ve got the answers here. Thank you so much again.

You need your Rutgers ID (RUID) and PIN to login and check if you have one. My D got email notification first and one week later she received it by the mail.

Didn’t get the Pres. scholarship. Ended up with just the James Dickinson Carr scholly. Still a nice chunk of change though.

srry if i sound ignorant, but is the carr scholarship only for african americans?

Nope, I got it for SAS and I am Chinese.

Do people who get the presidential scholarships still have to pay the housing deposit money?
