My award notice was just updated - I got a “Henry Rutgers Scholarship” for $6000 in addition to the Trustee of $16000 (and some loans). After some googling, apparently this is a new scholarship for in state students.

I have to say, even after enrolling at another school, this is definitely making me rethink Rutgers.

My award notice was updated as well with the Henry Rutgers Scholarship. The $6000 from that plus the $13000 from the Trustee is making Rutgers jump to my first choice. I was stunned by this since I am an out of state student with decent, but not incredible stats by any means.

I just received the $6000 Henry Rutgers Scholarship in conjunction with the $16000 Trustee Scholarship. I find it kind of strange how they added more money to my scholarship, but I’m not questioning it! Since this totals to practically a presidential scholarship, Rutgers is now the top on my list! Congratulations to everyone who received this additional scholarship as well as the preliminary ones, you all deserve them. =D

@prestico23 - The Henry Rutgers Scholarship is intended for in state (NJ) residents ONLY. I am a bit surprised that as an out of state student you were awarded one. I would check with financial aid, something is wrong. I wouldn’t count on actually getting that money.

@njparent225 - No, you do not need to African American to get the James Dickson Carr Scholarship. I know a Caucasian lady who got that scholarship 2 years ago.

Rutgers does not have a good track record of negotiating on scholarships. Regardless of how much money another school has offered, Rutgers hasn’t been interested in matching the other offers or upping the scholarships they have awarded.

I also received the Henry rutgers along with the trustee and I am out of state. Now I’m confused because the Henry rutgers is for NJ residents. Am I not going to receive that money?

My daughters status now says congratulations on your scholarship… View your award online but when you click on the link it just goes to the financial aid letters dated march 7… With nothing new. Anyone else have this?

@CBMOM22 and @JDancer - where exactly are you finding this information? Not in the Mason Gross portal? My D has also been accepted for dance BFA…Help :-/

Edited to add: we figured it out. No new scholarship (other than Carr). Where did you get the new notice, by email?

It was on her rutgers status page… Congratulations on your scholarship. But still dont know how much. @darwinknew the scholarship your D got is for Mason Gross or another school? my d was accepted to RBS and SAS but no scholarship for either.

I got a scholarship from SAS which Im hoping can be transferred, but on Saturday I received an email saying “It is my pleasure to inform you that, based on new academic information or a subsequent admission decision, an updated scholarship offer from Rutgers University is available for your review…” My portal says it was updated on 3/21, but when I go to the scholarship/fin aid page nothing has changed since March 7th

@CBMOM22 yes, the scholarship is for Mason Gross (Carr = 10,000 per year). @JDancer - I’m sure it will be straightened out tomorrow. That’s exciting!

@jdancer i did read online that if you receive a scholarship from SAS that it is transferrable…
Academic scholarships awarded based on admission to SAS are transferable to Mason Gross if a student is admitted and chooses to enroll. (From Website)
Thats great! And additional one as well. Congratulations!
And @darwinknew the carr scholarship is great as well!
