Rutgers Spring/Fall 2011 Transfers!!!

3.72 HS GPA
3.52 College GPA (Ohio University)
Will have about 114 credits before enrolling.
National Honor Society, Medical Society, Leadership position
Some extracurriculars.

I was already admitted to all Rutgers campuses back in 2008, but I decided not to go.

I’m pretty sure, two F’s I got in classes were the reason, or perhaps space unavailability…

I plan on transferring to New Brunswick SAS after my first year at Newark.

Quietsoul - Wow, I am really surprised… even with the two F’s, that was your first semester… right??
Have you tried calling?

Yes, it was over a year ago. I will call tomorrow and see what they say…

I’m surprised too. I got an F, but it was in a zero credit math class, so it doesn’t effect my GPA, but now I hope it doesn’t effect my admissions :0

Hopefully it doesn’t. But there’s a good part, assuming the information I found is legitimate. I will be majoring in Computer Science, and I read that many of the classes offered for CS or IS students can be taken at NJIT, which is right next to Rutgers-Newark. I know NJIT has a strong Computer Science program, so being there for a year, and learning or even taking courses at NJIT would be good.

If anything, I have the school-to-school transfer option.

Nice, at least something positive came from it. Are you an out of state student?

iastonish: the F that you got in the 0 credit math classes doesn’t affect your GPA but don’t you think it looks really bad that you can’t even pull out a c in a remedial class?

Everyone check their status!! Mine was updated overnight(I checked at 11, as always) - unfortunately just Spring 2011 Grades requested, like I knew, so I still have to wait 2 weeks. But at least they looked and at least liked me a little… right?! It’s so nice to see SOME kind of change.

Good luck to everyone checking!!

Mine was updated too. They’re asking for my spring 2011 grades. How am i supposed to get that to them before decision day?!

I didn’t get that yet :frowning:
Is that a bad sign?
Where do I look it up under?

iAstonish: They consider me an Out-Of-State because I’ve been studying in Ohio for over 2 years, but I’m a NJ Resident, My license, insurance, birth certificate, taxes, most purchases, permanent residency, work, registered business, bank accounts, my parents, etc etc etc are ALL in NJ, but they still consider me an Out-of-State, even though I move back and forth every other week to NJ. In Ohio I’m considered an Out-of-State as well… Weird…

@Bottlecap, I didn’t actually take the class I received an F in. Personal things came up last semester and I dropped my courses, I didn’t worry about the math class because told it doesn’t reflect my GPA at all and that it was for the Community College’s pre-recs only, so I didn’t think it would show up on my transcript.

And yea Quiet, that is a weird situation.

Hello, hello. Still waiting for my response. Then again I applied sorta late. :stuck_out_tongue:
anyone know how dorming works if you’re a transfer student? a junior, specifically?

@Crin: From what I’ve gather, transfer students apply for housing and are put where there is room. Unlike other undergraduate students, we don’t do the housing lotto. Housing for transfers isn’t guaranteed, but it seems it’s available enough that you should not have to worry too much as long as you get your housing application and deposit in early.

I am stressing because of that non-credit class, so I decided to calculate my GPA as if that class were counted and it isn’t that bad. I have seven A’s and one F (in the non credit class) but if I were to count them all equally, I would still have a 3.5. But right now my GPA is showing up as 4.0 on my transcript.

Hoping for the best :D

oh, alright. thank you for the quick reply.

if you’re in-state, i believe even a 3.5 will suffice.

Yea, I’m in-state  and no problem

It’ really a 4.0, that’s what it shows up as, I’m just paranoid like everyone else waiting for admission lol

Double post…oops

3.5 for in-state?..I’m screwed, aren’t I? :(
