There must be something else. Iastonish might have gotten an F in one of his classes or other reasons (residency perhaps?). Not because of his current GPA.

It also depends on your course load. I basically took all the hardest classes my school offered and got accepted right away.

Jsteph, you are transferring as a sophomore right? did you not take at least more than 1 prerequisites in one semester?

VBC, good luck taking organic and physics at rutgers :)

You are doing pharmacy right? Why didn’t you finish all of your prereqs at CC?

I agree with you ziggy. Types of classes and course load matter as well.

Rutgers admission is on some Bll **

I have a 4.0 GPA, in-state bottlecap

Course load my ass, I took the HARDEST courses offered including Honors.

**** is crazy lol I got emails from Upenn, but somehow can’t get accepted into Rutgers. I pm’ed you Lexsi.

Who knows how they do it…seems almost random. I know people who got denied from SAS, but got into Engineering and Business which are supposed to be more selective. Then people get denied with 4.0’s and others get in with 2.8’s.

I had a college advisor in high school and he told me they use a computer system which inputs your grades and application and it picks who’s accepted…I don’t know if I believe him but the stories just add to it

Lexsi and iastonish, can you guys let us know what classes you have taken? And from I remember from you iastonish, didn’t you get an F in a remedial math class? That could be a reason. Did you guys apply early?

Fall 2010
French - A
Chemistry - A
Math - B
Writing 121 Honors - B
(also between this time, I “skipped” a math class - went from a lower level class to precal)
Winter 2011
French - A
Math (Precal) - A
Business 101 - B
Microeconomics - B

HS: 3.5UW 3.8W

3.5 Solid. I’m not mad anymore, because I honestly really love the school I got into, and feel like this is just “good karma” - but I figure I’ll provide this for future transfers. And I’m upset for people like iAstonish, but you’re right, maybe that F makes sense. I wish everyone the best of luck at RU, it just wasn’t the school for me in the end.

@VBC: Bio I + II, Calc II

@bottlecap: No, I took Bio I first semester but I was doing poorly, so I dropped it. I might take it this summer.

Lexsi, to be honest, you still have a chance. I think you are going to get off the waitlist.

I didn’t attend the class I received an F in. I emailed them personally and explained the situation with financial aid not coming through and causing me to drop the class late.

I completed most GEC classes; English 1 and 2, History 1 and 2, Public Speaking, etc.

Even if you counted the f into my GPA I would have a 3.5, which is still respectable.

Bottlecap - I appreciate that, but like I said, had I waited until June - I would have lost admission to the other school I applied to. I also would have a lesser chance at housing and financial aid, which are both crucial.

When you are getting waitlisted, it means that they are waiting for your spring grades and at the same time see for open slots. If they wanted to reject they would do so already. Trust me, if you are doing good in your spring semester, you have a good chance. I agree that housing could be difficult but wouldn’t still be cheaper to attend RU compared to American U, i believe?

American U is a great school though and they already accepted you, why not go there and work hard at a school that recognized your individual accomplishments and wants you there?

Best of luck with everything Lexsi

Yes AU is a good school but Rutgers are ranked higher plus their tuition is cheaper.

What is the latest you can apply as a transfer for the upcoming fall semester? The website says it is still accepting applicants. Will it be like that for a while? I’m asking for a friend who is a freshman at a cc and just wants to get out and go to Rutgers. WIll it still be ok even after the april 15 which is the date they have to tell you if your accepted?

Bottlecap - Lol, I already sent my deposit in, and am thrilled to go - you are not much of the pep-talker, although I adore your reverence for RU. AU is a great place, in a big city, and is giving me a lot of aid. I am not going to give that up for a “chance” at Rutgers, for second-rate housing & aid.

ONCE AGAIN - Good luck to everyone that got in, it is not the place for me. :)
