Rutgers Spring/Fall 2011 Transfers!!!

Chando, I believe they could make you wait until june. They want to see your spring grades.

@bottlecap when did u get accepted. You seem to know all the ins and outs.

I have been reading this thread for months and I have a brother who got accepted at NB business school 2 months ago as a transfer student.

Congrats to everyone who got in. And to everyone asking, just wait it out, because admission selection seems like a crapshoot this year.

@iAstonish: Rutgers’ admission seems to be crap every year. last year from high school, my friends who got into drexel and syracuse, were deferred to Rutgers, and they were both instate. i was admitted to the engineering program last year, but was waitlisted this year as a transfer student. i really dont know what rutgers base their admissions on, and their logic behind accepting students. but yea, i agree their admissions selection is just off the whack. after seeing many stats on this thread, i have no idea how i got in as a transfer student. i only have about 12 transferable credits, 0 community service, and and an awful GPA my 1st semester at the CC. but to those who are wait-listed, i hope the best for all of you. and to those who were deferred, dont give up, apply for this upcoming spring and the next fall. you’ll get there!

Junwon, you got in with 12 credits with an awful GPA? your hs stats must have been superb.

I’m transferring from ccm with an AA in humanities. My gpa at the time of application was 2.99. Other then volunteering at a camp couple years ago and various work experience there wasn’t much meat on my application. No clubs at cc. I did however write a very good essay, I believe that helped a lot. I was accepted to both Newark and New Brunswick about a month ago. I committed to New Brunswick and I’ll be attending in the Fall. I’m really surprised I got accepted after reading the stats of some people that got wait listed. I’ll be happy to answer any questions

I also have to wonder what is going on with Rutgers right now. I’ve called a dozen times (no, I’m not being hyperbolic, I really did) and have yet to hear a definitive answer about anything.
For NB campus, I was wait listed, but am hopeful since nearly everyone has chosen Rutgers as a safety school, and is planning on not attending.
It was certainly surprising to be wait listed, when I’m a transfer with a 3.0 gpa and have various/unique activities. At this point, I’m considering Rider instead, mainly because the experience may be better, and they at least seem to have their act together.

Jovian, I think you still have a good chance of getting in. If your spring grades are good, I am sure you will get in. Rider is so much more expensive as isn’t nearly as good as rutgers.

I just got accepted into Rider, but will definitely see both campuses to see which is more appealing. Rutgers is certainly more convenient, and cheaper, but things will play out for the better, I’m sure.

Thanks for the vote of confidence!

Anyone hear anything about transfer scholarships yet? I have my financial aid, but was wondering if they have or have not given out scholarships yet.

Anyone transferring to Rutgers in Camden? I hear the campus is small, but it makes a great learning environment and close knit professor relationships.

If TCNJ was 14,000 a year and Rutgers was 4,500 a year is there any argument to go to TCNJ over Rutgers in that situation?

Do I still have hope? They’ve received my everything they required except my college transcripts. Hopefully, I can get my transcripts on May XX because this is my first semester. My application status is in process… Has anyone heard of this situation?

@mynick17 - they are two totally different types of schools. Tcnj is a small regional university. Rutgers is a large national research university. It depends what you are looking for.

Has anyone gotten news of notification from Rutgers yet? I’ve heard nothing, and the school is SEVEN days late from their given deadline!!

Did you check your Rutgers status? They don’t usually e-mail you or send anything to your house. So if you haven’t checked your status, I would do so.

I’ve checked my status online every day. Thus far, I’ve been accepted at Newark, which was just today, wait listed for New Brunswick, and am still waiting on Camden (which was a backup). Thank goodness! :-D

JOVIAN, How many credits u got? GPA?

I have a 3.0, and 53 credits thus far. I’m also working for a mentor program for students with intellectual/emotional disabilities in my college, member of the Future Teacher’s Club, and Phi Beta Kappa, all of which helped, surely. An associate’s degree isn’t happening for me, so all my credits just transferred, which is mainly why I feel that an A.A is usually a waste of time, unless you aren’t able to maintain a higher gpa (not that mine is astronomically so) and are afraid of not getting into a 4-year.
