Safety Issues

Thanks RoyceDM and Juliemrn.

I am glad you brought the subject up Julie as some of the posts are informative and reassuring.

atlsmith, as usual your advice is sound and well articulated.

juliemm

Sorry Ive been off this board several weeks.

This doesnt answer your questions because
they are the same ones I have, often as I lay may head on the pillow.
I share your concerns and thoughts.

I too, have received few clear answers to these questions.
As you know, my fkp'er will be taking a very simular trip to yours.

I do know this much and little else.

As your midshipman sails, she carries with her training and confidence that KP has been instilling in her since day one.

She has grown in many ways since indoc day.

She has with her a classmate who has been likewise trained and grown.

She will have nearly every officer, every law and every KP'er behind her.

And she carries with her the hopes and prayers of everyone on this board and well beyond.

It is with those thoughts in mind that I hope to see them off.

It is with those thoughts that I send my 'baby' into the real world.

Lastly, your KP'er has a prouddad who has an open ticket in his pocket to any port in the world should he find any reason to go.

And nobody wants to face his rath.

prouddad2010

y'know in response to the post above about having a hard time being away from instant communication and all while your crossing...I'd say I just got really really bored sometimes...that's why they have movies...and the sea project..ha

Sea Project as entertainment and fun !?!
Thanks, Davy. I've NEVER heard it approached in that manner.
You have a brilliant future in the media or politics :)

i dont know if id go so far as to call it entertaining but it really does help pass some of the time i thought, when i was in port i never touched the thing, when i was at sea...pretty much every night.

Update - My Mid got her sea assignment yesterday morning. There were probably sparks flying out of my husband's laptop as he tried to find out as much as he could about where she will be going. The best news is that she feels good about what she's heard about the ship and crew. The Capt. is a KP'er and she is going to talk to two other female Mids that just did the same ports, etc.

Thanks for the support these past few days....I feel so much better and I'm starting to get excited for her. I promised myself no tears.....keep your fingers crossed for me!

No tears????? Tears do not necessarily mean sadness. There are so many milestones in our kids' lives that when they get to them, you can not help but have the emotional leaking of a few tears. This might be one of them, pass the kleenex please.

May your daughter have a grand adventure.

Julie

Actually, I did have a tear
(of sweet glee)
as I too received the details on our KP'ers
upcoming trek

Sounds like a great ship
great crew
and a great cruise

The East Coast
the Atlantic
Gibralter
the Med
the Suez
the Persian Gulf
the Indian Ocean

Once she makes the Atlantic passage
mine will have surpassed this dad

I cant wait to see them off

I have nothing but very good vibes
