Safety School?

I need help choosing a safety school. I plan on applying to UGA, UNC, Duke, MIT, Harvard, etc. and things of the like (being realistic on the schools, knowing my reaches and what not) but I'm not sure what school I should choose to be my safety (I'm a resident of Georgia). I was thinking about Georgia Southern, but I don't want to go to Statesboro (a while away from where I live and I question the academics of teh school). I was also thinking of Georgia State, but unsure about their academics as well. Would Mercer be considered a safety for the average person that can get into the schoos listed above? Thanks for any help and suggestions that you give.

PS, sorry for being so vague. I'm only a HS Soph so it'd be pointless to kind of say what I project my grades and what not to be.

You will probably have a more realistic idea of what can be a safety by the end of junior year, when you have your junior year grades and probably SAT and ACT scores.

Be sure to talk to your parents about cost constraints and run the net price calculators to check how realistic each school is financially. A school cannot be a safety unless it is affordable.

Oh, I guess I can add that in. So far i’ve got a 1750 (just to gauge how I could do, no studying or anything like that) on the SAT. And in terms of cost, my parents are willing to take out the loans for me + whatever scholarships/aid I get.

Also apply to Georgia Tech. 1750 is very low for all schools you mentioned except UGA. Get that up to 2100+ to have any chance.
