i think you had to have at least a 1350

Thanks idontknow. Do you know if they are decent with finaid?

sorry.. i don't really know

I'm applying to SCU too! But I'm really confused about something...where do we apply for their scholarships? I can't find it anywhere on their website. And what is the Dean's Scholarship all about? ? Thanks for any help!

there isn't a separate application for most scholarships (i.e. Dean's Scholarship). you fill out the application for admissions and if you meet the standards for a particular scholarship, you'll automatically be considered. i hope that helps!

The average freshman gift aid at Santa Clara is about $7000 while the average need-based aid is $3000. I've heard that Santa Clara is nicknamed the "Miser of the West," but I have no real experience to attest to that. I applied to SCU this year, but I ended up withdrawing my application after being accepted to Pomona College. I live about 20 minutes away from the school and I would definitely have gone had I truly believed that I could afford it. At Pomona, I only pay $550 for a $40,000 sticker price. I think that if money is truly an issue, you should contact SCU students and ask them, not the school because they always sugar-coat things. There are schools down in SoCal that meet 100% of need such as Pomona College, Claremont McKenna College, Scripps College and Occidental College. As for universities, I'm not sure. Log onto PrincetonReview.com and look up the list for colleges with the best financial aid. Best of luck to you all.

I've also heard about SCU being stingy when it comes to aid. If that's true, then even if I'm accepted, I won't be able to go.

i applied early action special application and i never heard anything

given it isnt really a top choice (more likea last choice) i havent relaly followed up.
oh well...

I got my financial aid letter the other day nad it turns out my Dean's Scholarship is $12,000 a year. This was awesome because it was more than I expected. Has anyone else heard about scholarships yet?

yeah i got my letter- i got 10. which really isn't all that much since tuition is so expensive. oh well.
maine- are you going to the feb invitational?

yeah I'm going to the February Invitaional. I'm going out for like 5 days to check out the area also.

Maine, I also received the Dean's Scholarship.. congrats to you! Mine was 12000 as well, but there was something else in the letter called a SCU scholarship and that was 2000 per year. Does anybody know what this is?? Oh, and does anybody know for sure that they're going to attend SCU??

thanks conrats to you as well. Hmm...I don't know what the SCU scholarship is but hey congrats on that too. Do you go to a jesuit high school? because I think you get a scholarship if you do. Oh and I'm 99% sure I will attend SCU, i just havn't sent in the money yet.

Congratulations to all of you receiving merit aid from Santa Clara! What is it about the school that attracted you besides the beautiful campus and location? Do you feel that someone without a Catholic or strong religious conviction would be comfortable there? What majors is the school strong in? Thanks.

Besides the location and campus the academics are good too. I believe their most well known school is the Leavey School of Business but I've heard they are all good. I know a guy who graduated last year from the school of arts and sciences and he loved it. As far as religion goes I have been told it's present but not overbearing, in fact only about half of the students are religious.

The SCU website lists a couple of $2000 scholarships:

Honors Program
Admission to the University Honors Program is by invitation and is based on your high school record, test scores, and information contained in the application for admission to the University. Honors Program Scholarships are $2,000. For more information, contact the Honors Program at 408-554-4439. Honors Program. http://www.scu.edu/honors/

National Merit Scholarships
Each year Santa Clara University awards four $2,000 National Merit Scholarships to incoming freshmen. Students are selected from those National Merit Finalists who listed SCU as their first choice school.

hmm... thanks gspsiliconvalley for the info! i don't think i received either of the two scholarships you listed because i'm not a national merit anything and i didn't receive any info about the honors program, but thanks anyway for your help!

I applied as a Sophomore transfer for the fall of 2015 and was deferred
I just got the admissions letter today, and honestly I am a little disappointed.
i had a 4.0 this past semester, and am currently involved vigorously with my university, however, i had a 3.2 in high school and my ACT score was a 21 so I think that it was what screwed me over
I am thinking of applying but am not sure what my chances are. My stats:
1530 SAT (750-CR, 780 -Math), 3.42 GPA (unweighted), president of Economics Club, varsity debate, track and field. Do I have a chance of getting into SCU for economics?
My daughter got her scholarship info (full tuition for 4 years) about a week after her acceptance letter.
