Sat I + Act = Sat I + Sat Ii ???

You know how most competitive schools and ivy leagues require that you either submit:

ACT w/ writing
SAT I AND two SAT II subject tests

Is it possible to submit the ACT and SAT I, without SAT II subject tests? My brother is a junior with a good SAT I score (2240) and poorer SAT II subject tests (in the low to mid 600s). However, he has an ACT score of 30, which isn't that great but we hope he can submit in lieu. He's interested in Cornell/Dartmouth/Tufts/Wesleyan, which all require SAT II's. Suggestions? Anyone done this before or know about admissions firsthand who can suggest?

They'd probably look at both the SATs and ACT if he sent both. However, keep in mind that when you send SATs all of the subject test scores come in the score report so if he sends the SATs they'll see those as well...

If it says that then just submit the ACT.

Since he already took SAT IIs when he sends the SAT they'll get those anyway

correct .

As noted, if you request the College Board to send any SAT score to a college, it automatically sends all SAT and SAT II scores it has on file for you.

There are a number of colleges that usually require SAT IIs which will take the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT IIs. Tufts and Wesleyan are among those. Cornell and Dartmouth are not -- they still require SAT IIs even if you submit ACT. Go to the following for a list of colleges that require SAT IIs; in the required column you will see an * next to the number for some of the colleges; that * means the college takes the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT IIs:
