@2andbeyondxD: less than 1 probably won’t happen to you, unless you messed up really really bad in the test, like getting 200 in all sections =P

I don’t get why some internationals get to do new questions while some have to do the recycled tests. I mean that is just absurd and unfair :-B Is CB discriminating or something -.- (just kidding, but still the question is there)

I think, when they make us pay almost double as much as domestic students, that we shouldn’t be treated as second-class citizens! But I think their reasoning is that they want to compare us to the domestic test-takers, without giving us the test a day early in some cases, so they have to use a past test.

@Chuck: still I think there is no need for them to “compare” that way. I mean, isn’t that what the curve and the SAT are for? If doing the same test is the only way for them to compare the students’ ability, then it is best if they use the same tests every time, even in their own country. 2000 SAT January is equal to 2000 SAT March wherever you are thanks to the curve right? -.-

lol @minnan… I hope not! But I was really exaggerating my fear of a 2***andless :(

I seriously hope not!

And yes @chuck981996, You are 100% right. I couldn’t agree more…
Seriously, I find it more unfair to us than those living i the U.S.
It is just so provocative how Collegeboard seems to underestimate us that much. seriously, we do not choose to take the American curriculum and in turn, pay them to take a test that is supposed to assess us, to find out that we are just taking their trash, just because they don’t have enough brains to do their job properly or maybe printed too many test papers once and decided not to throw them away for the poor trees…

And yes, some do benefit from this but believe me, NOT to the extent ppl think… unless they are seriously lifeless and somehow have some super duper illegal source to get ALL the previously administrated tests, just for the minor possibility that a test may be repeated or a section from here or there… I personally have never met someone of the sort… And those who do cheat or come up with the exam, ironically, fail or get caught because of sheer stupidity…
My point is, the “study on the differences in scores between the previous bastardized versions and this unadultered test.” is unfair to both sides…
As a matter of fact, it is just more unfair to the millions out there who take the test after doing their best to prepare, and then get their scores delayed and go through trouble if they get an exceptionally high score because they are suspected of cheating since they took the test in test center so or so, or were in country so or so… the stereotype now held against us international students hurts us big time! Both the ones in the U.S and international students are in the midst of this dilemma just because Collegeboard are too “bored” or “lazy” to treat us like we deserve… Integrity, I suppose, is not part of the “Hot Word for SAT” I guess. ha…
I know coming up with the “right” questions, is not an easy task, but there has to be a way other than just “recycling” tests… give me break! Hire more employees CB, for crying out loud!

P.S I previously posted this on a thread by some person who thought this unfair to those in U.S

@bigdream18: not really. My prompt was “should we change our behavior to suit circumstances” or something along that line :-B Well there are 4 different topics to choose, and it varies depending on nations so…

@2***andbeyondxD: to be honest I’m hoping for the same thing as you. I’m scared out of my wits right now. -.- The curve dashed all of my dreams T^T

Am I understanding correctly that the claims about the supposed curve are based on students who received certain scores (i.e., 740) and simply guessed that they had gotten a certain number of questions wrong (i.e., 3) based on what they had read on college confidential discussions? In other words, while it is confirmed that the student in question got 740, it is not confirmed that he/she got three questions wrong, because only scores–and not score reports–had been issued at the time the discussion took place? Is that correct?

@natanand: Not really. The former test takers in March 2010 received their score reports, which means that they knew precisely how many questions they got wrong, and began to reconstruct the curve based on the score report. In other words, the curve is probably correct if the test takers on the forum were telling the truth about their score and their performance.

Got 800 CR, 800 Maths, and 780 Writing (with 10 essay and 77MC). I’m very happy with my scores considering the apparently harsh curve though after looking at the consolidated answer lists, I feel confident that I got everything right in CR and Maths.

Anyway, huge relief as it means I can concentrate on Year 12 here (Australia) without worrying about taking the SAT’s again. Also means I’m confident about having a chance of getting into some of the Ivy leagues.

Hey I’m from Australia too! Which state are you in? I’m from Victoria.

I took it this round too, but only got 710/800/760/2270 but I’m in year 11, so I’m considering retaking it sometime later this year. I don’t know whether to or not.

Also, how do you check what the essay score is? Mine only came up with the three scores, not the writing breakdown or the percentiles as I’ve seen some people have…

Chuck I’m from WA and just started yr 12. Seriously I wouldn’t bother retaking with that score, instead use your time more effectively on ECs. The difference between a 2270 and a 2370 will be negligible to most admissions people.

The essay score and multiple choice score of the writing section should come up underneath the writing score and percentiles should be to the right.

There’ll be a difference, but think about opportunity cost of retaking SAT’s and doing hours of extra study when you could be starting clubs/doing service to the community.

I feel like I’m the only one with such a low CR score…You Australians rock man!
got 720 M (770 in November), 740 W (75 MC, 9 essay)…I am very good at math, but I always make some mistakes on the test day and scold myself after getting home/sometimes while getting home.

@chuck981996: There is a thin line between a 2270 and a 2370 and it depends on which college/uni you apply to that this line is taken into consideration. But bear in mind that SAT scores are not everything that colleges use to evaluate a student’s academic ability and performance.

And it’s strange that you do not have a percentile report. I have it and apparently almost everyone I know has it too The percentile is reported to you on the right of each score.
