SAT Subject Tests

I was wondering if the Air Force Academy requires the SAT subject tests, if they are recommended, or if they are not looked at, at all. Also, for the Air Force Academy or for other colleges, how many can/should you take and can you take the same one over again? Also, do colleges see the scores for every subject test, or can you take several and only show the colleges the best scores? And which ones look the best to take? Thanks guys.

Not required or looked at.

I'm not sure if it has changed since i applied my senior year of '03-'04 but I took the ACT tests and i took them twice and i know that the academy took my best score for each individual subject test. They completely ignored my lower scores. However, im not sure if that is the case since that was two years ago.

The colleges see all the subject tests scores b/c the College Board sends all your scores (regular SAT and subject tests) whenever they send scores to colleges. My son took the subject tests b/c they are required for a scholarship competition where I work. Other than that, I haven't seen any interest by any of the colleges. Yes, you can take the subject tests more than once. If you take the Math 2, make sure you have your graphing calculator. We didn't realize this and he took it with a regular calculator. Retook it with the graphing calculator and went from a 570 to a 780. We tried to concentrate on taking the subject tests throughout his high school career as he finished a subject. For instance, he took world history and biology after he completed them his freshman year, but didn't take chemistry until after he completed Chem II his junior year. He took a wide variety of tests to show well-roundedness. The only one we stayed away from was the language tests.

Subject tests are required by highly selective colleges, but not the service academies. It is a good idea to become very familiar with application requirements well in advance and to do meticulous preparation. Most colleges that require any SAT subject tests require three of them.

Thanks guys. I was thinking of taking the Math level II, Spanish without listening, and Chemistry because I know some of the other colleges I was looking at wanted the subject tests.

Also, I took the SAT once and did alright..1920. I plan to take it again in June, but am not sure if I will improve much, or at all. Should I plan to send the scores to the Air Force Academy before I find out how I did, or wait and see if I improved and then send them?

Send your scores to the academy. Any improvement will help you and lower scores won't hurt you. There are a lot of variables in SAT testing, and you might hit the jackpot this time. If you don't, no problem.
