I love all of those things. I would add to that list v-necks, y-necks, coffee, vegetarianism, beards, Jack Kerouac, and a healthy sense of irony.

is that a hipster? I don’t think I really know any and my only experience maybe seeing one is latfh.com

^How many hipsters does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: It’s a very obscure number; you wouldn’t have heard of it.

My only other Ivies are Columbia (very good with languages, but I’m not much of a city person (and it’s almost too close to home (and like the 2nd most expensive school in the country))) and Harvard.
@alisa530: I applied to stanford without seeing it because it sounds sooo great, but I’ll visit if i get in (unless I manage to get into yale <3). but they wanted $90 for the app!!!

How many hipsters does it take to change a lightbulb?

All of them. One to change the lightbulb, and the rest of them to tell each other that they were changing lightbulbs before it was popular.

Congratulations. You’re a hipster.

^ oh yeah I know that was really dumb. well best of luck to you my friend keeps making fun of me and asking me if I’m going to become a hipster if I go to Yale… but I’m not quite sure what that is. everyone at my school dresses like a gangsta or street walker so…

I didn’t really get much of a city feel at Brown (maybe because it’s campus is so tiny). It felt more… suburban.

This makes me love Yale so much more. ■■■■.

The only campus I’ve visited is Harvard’s. (and Oxford, but can’t apply there so that doesn’t count.) Loved it. Harvard square is so lively! And I loved Boston. The people seemed pretty chilled out.

I’ve never been to Yale sadly.

Ahh no worries, the only schools I’ve visited period are Texas ones haha.
I’m trying to convince my parents right now I need to take a week vacation in April :D. I’m planning on trying to visit places I get in then, if possible, so I can try to make an educated choice (assuming I have one).

Oooh, forgot the vegetarianism. My whole family’s been vegetarian and borderline vegan since I was three. I also like NPR and green energy/sustainability.

On the other hand, I’m not an Apple/Mac fan like other hipster-minded people. I had a MacBook Pro for two years but it was the worst computer I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned some pretty bad ones. I mean, yes, I like the aesthetic appeal of Apple’s industrial design, but with the MacBook I had it serviced three times and right now it’s sitting in a corner collecting dust since the logic board fried for no apparent reason. It’s out of warranty too, since I never bought AppleCare - with my previous computers (Dell and Toshiba) I never experienced hardware failures, so I didn’t think it was necessary. I keep meaning to go to the Apple Store and get a diagnostic done on it but they charge $50 for diagnostics and I’ve been too busy with college apps and stuff to bother.

^ Hearing this kind of testimonial from a Mac owner is certainly a first for me.

Yeah, I’m seriously never buying an Apple branded notebook ever again. I’m leaning towards a Sony VAIO Z or a Thinkpad x200 or x300 series for college.

Oh is Macbook so bad? I was thinking of getting one for college. (I have dell atm)

^^Yeah, Sony’s good. But this is the first time I heard someone complain about Apple Mac.

Most people are caught up with the whole status symbol hype surrounding anything touched by Steve Jobs. If there’s one thing that Apple’s good at, it’s PR and advertising.

The iPad alone proves that.

Ah I’m totally there. The only Apple product I own is an iPod touch. So far the operating system has imploded three times (the only thing it does when I turn it on is show the stupid little Apple logo that keeps mocking me, then shuts back off). I’ve had to take it in and get it wiped three times with two different devices. Arggrghgrhghr. I have a VAIO laptop (actually it’s kind of a family communal laptop) and it’s fantastic. The display is beautiful, it’s easy to use and lightweight, and it runs really, really fast.

Oh! And I totally forgot NPR. I listen to it every day on my way to school, lol. Ira Glass is my mancrush.

Well then, I’m getting a VAIO :D

No macs are amazing. I love mine; have had it for four years and no problems except I sort of took off several of the keys on the keyboard b/c I was trying to clean out crumbs and got a bit OCD and yeah… But that was obviously my fault.

I love iPods, but when it was about three or four years old my previous iPod wouldn’t play music to my right ear, no matter the headphones. Turns out the headphone jack was just too old… the guy at the Apple store actually outright admitted to me that they MAKE them so they wear out and you have to get a whole new iPod just cause the headphone jack’s ***ced up.

:D Haha me too.
Sperry’s=win.

All except beards. Facial hair grosses me out so much. But I am vegetarian. :)

I honestly don’t dress like a hipster at all though. But I think like one. ;)
