Dont panic! I would take BUS-A100, BUS-T175, BUS-K204, MATH-M 118. That is 8.5 credits. I do not know what your W131 situation is. Hopefully you fall in one of these categories.
“SAT (recentered) Verbal score of 670 or higher; or
ACT English score of 32 or higher” <a href=“Indiana University Bloomington”>Indiana University Bloomington;
If not, take W131.
I would recommend knocking out to birds with one stone if you will. Some courses count as an A&H and a World Culture. ( It looks like you need two of each) The courses that count for both are, Black Music Of Two worlds, roman culture, classical mythology, intro to african lit, east asia: an introduction, introduction to world literature in english, black music of two worlds (folk version), music of russia, introduction to the new testament, intro to judaism, intro to islam, intro to hinduism, religions of asia, intro to czech culture, intro to russian culture, russian lit, intro to Ukrainian culture. All these classes still have spots open.
I would take one of those. Whichever you find most interesting. Alternatively, if none are interesting, use this to strategically pick one. http://gradedistribution.registrar.indiana.edu/ I would also take micro E201/S201.
That gives you, to recap, A100, T175, K204, M118, E/S201, and elective mentioned above. That would be 14.5 cr. with one or two honors courses. If you had to take W131, I would do it and not take econ. If you’re ambitious, go ahead, but 17.5 cr would be overkill for first semester imo.

Unless things have changed since last year, you will also need to take one 1-credit-hour class each semester for the Kelley LLC. Unfortunately ,there is no way to test out of Finite. The only way I know of to avoid taking Finite at IUB is to take it somewhere else and transfer the credit. Is IFS (Intensive Freshman Seminar) an option for you? With IFS you can knock out one A&H before school even starts, then you can take a lighter load first semester to ease into college life. See http://ifs.indiana.edu/programDetails for more info.

I am in a similar situation and registered today. BUS-C 106 is unavailable this semester unless you are a part of ACE. My advisor says that BUS-A 100 and BUS-K 204 need to be in separate semesters due to pacing and workload. I’d come with a plan of what you want so you can get in and out faster and register before what you want fills up. Good luck!

I disagree that BUS-A 100 and BUS-K 204 shouldn’t be taken in the same semester. A lot of students do it. Taking both A100 and K204 first semester open up a lot of scheduling opportunities for your second semester - you can take financial or managerial accounting 2nd semester, you can take X201/X202 2nd semester. My daughter suggests taking A100 the first 8 weeks of 1st semester, as K204 gets more intense with the big project toward the end of the semester. If you find you just can’t handle A100 with everything else, you can drop it and try it again the 2nd 8 weeks or 2nd semester. A lot of students do that too.

I agree with stbemptynest. My D registered for BUS-A 100 ( first 8 weeks) and BUS-K 204 and BUS-C 104 in the first semester. Her Kelley advisor had no problem with her schedule.

My daughter who is DA/Kelley and Hutton was also told not to take BusA100 and BusK204 in the same semester. They said it is way too common to see freshman totally stressed out first semester due to workload. They have enough other things to adjust to…

Obviously, its up to each individual student to decide what what is best for s/he. But I will comment that if you take A100 first 8 weeks and K204, the exams do not overlap. The first accounting midterm is a month into school and you are really just getting into Excel at this point in K204. The accounting final is a week before the K204 midterm. Now A100 during second 8 week would be tough as K204 is extremely backend heavy.

I’m a propenent of taking A100 the first 8 weeks. Since it’s a fast moving 8 weeks, you’ve practically taken the A100 midterm before your other classes even get started. Taking it the second 8 weeks puts it in a much more stressful time of the semester.
