S received an invite for March 7 Scholar's Day. Is this a good sign?

He is in for sure

yay i got it too! :)

Awesome! I didn't know they sent those :)

i got it too!
it started with "Congratulations" then goes off on saying " you are one of the top applicants..." so does that mean I am in for sure?

Okay
i found a link for an article from last year
You’ll Like to Be at UCSD
[QUOTE]
So, when Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Joseph Watson told the teenagers Friday morning that they all had been admitted to UCSD for fall 2007, they smiled. Their parents cheered.

Does it affect chances of admissions if you don't go? Cause I'm in NorCal and I don't really feel like going all the way to San Diego...

I second Chairman Meow's question.

Also, I wonder, does this event give the prospective students any advantages, comparing to those who would come for the reagular "accepted students' day" or something like that? BTW, when UCSD sends out its acceptance/rejection letters?

If you got the letter, you are IN for SURE. In fact, you'll be one of the TOP admitted students. It won't matter if you go or not since you are IN already.
But official letter stuff should come around mid to late March.

Why else would they start the letter with "Congratulations"?
Every other UC email are like "DECISIONS HAVE NOT BEEN MADE"! while this is like blatantly saying Congratulations.

and remember, UCs wouldn't waste money sending DVD, letter on good paper with bubble wrap envelop unless they really want the students.

***, why don't they just say "you've been accepted."

lol but i'm so happy yay!

sweet, I received the scholar's day letter today too. Have any alums been to this before? any good? worth flying cross country (from jersey)?

did you get it in the mail? i didn't get one. =( but i got the med scholar invite...

^^yes lydia423, it came in the mail.

I got one too~
I wish they would just say "you're accepted", instead of going around and around on it..

I also got the medical school thingy invite, but I'm not interested in going to med school >_<

i wish i got a scholar one!!! i didn't get the regents invite for berkeley either...
bad week. =(

"i wish i got a scholar one!!! i didn't get the regents invite for berkeley either...
bad week. =("

All my mail's in CA so I have no idea if i got the scholar one :|
And yeah, talk about a bad week! My boyfriend was with me when I found out I didn't get the Regents invite for Berkeley. I'm sure it was a fantastic Valentine's Day for him, haha.

what kind of stats do you need to get this? and is there any notification by email or on the websites you have received?

Do they notify you by email at all? If I haven't gotten anything by now, am I out of luck?

Also, slightly unrelated, but I can't update my info for UCSD because the myapp site is only up from 7 AM to midnight PST, and by the time I get home from school, it's already about 1:30 AM in CA. Is there any other way I can do this? -_-

Yay~ :] I'm in!
