Were all Danforth finalists called yesterday? I thought they spread the calls for all of the scholarships throughout the week, and although it’s possible that many finalists aren’t CC members, we’ve only heard from two Danforth applicants who’ve gotten calls.

That was my same reasoning! I thought that since my name is later on in the alphabet that I would (hopefully) be getting a call after many other people. I guess it would help if we knew what the first letter of the last name was of the people who had gotten called.

^ I was called by the Director of the Danforth Scholarship program yesterday at around 12:45 p.m. my time. My last name is in the last three letters of the alphabet and I live in the Rocky Mountain region.

There are only 40 finalists for Danforth (according to the nomination form from the beginning of the school year).

@motion12345: Why not? I think they sent out notifications last year on a Sunday as well, and so far no one’s said anything about any scholarship calls except Danforth.

^ WHOA, you really scared me for a second, there. I was like WAIT, since when are Moog calls coming in?!?! Who knows, though. I really do wish they would just email/mail us.

I think I read on another thread that they left a message saying that they would call back later. I’m not sure if they mentioned that they were calling for a scholarship or not.

I did also hear that someone didn’t find out they were a finalist until they got a letter in the mail…so hopefully some mailboxes will have a lucky letter in it in the next week.

I was at a debate tournament, but the Danforth dean spoke to my mother. The dean then called my cell phone and left a message saying I was a finalist for Danforth.

it appears there is a precedent in that they (Danforth and other scholarships) will call your home phone.

Everyone needs to calm down and not try to read too much into calls that have been received. There is no set order (by alphabete) on how calls are made. Each scholarship coordinator (often a Dean) is responsible for how and when the calls are made. Once calls begin they will continue on a daily basis untill all candidates are contacted, and yes they will talk to parents and attempt to contact you on your cell. So you can count on calls being made most or all of next week. If you have not heard within the next 10 days - that would not be a good sign. Good luck to everyone still waiting.

Haha, thanks ST2 for knocking some sense into us. Obsessing over for the moment. But I’d still like to know if anyone else gets called today! :)
