My daughter submitted her scholarship application by December 1st but did not make the SAT/ACt requirements. Are there any scholarships offered to current students after freshman year?

Yes there are some for various depts for continuing students, but your D could still be offered a scholarship for fall.

The listed scholarships are the assured ones for stats. Bama also has numerous other ones that are awarded to students who didn’t get those assured ones. Scholarships told me that those scholarships are awarded to selected students with a 3.0 GPA and at least a 25 ACT (I think she said 25).

Also, there are dept scholarships that are determined in January.

These “other” scholarships are targeted towards the kids who didn’t get the assured scholarships.

Except for engineering and some performing/talent scholarships, most dept scholarship are not awarded to those who already have the larger scholarships.

What are your D’s stats and what did she put down as her major?

She has a 21 ACT, 1490 SAT (all three sections) and a 3.6 GPA. She received a great scholarship from Kentucky but Alabama is higher on her list of colleges. Unfortunately finances are going to play a part in where she is able to go so I’m hoping that something comes through from Alabama and South Carolina that will make them affordable for us so that she has a choice. They are her top three choices.
