^^Thank you, bringbackpluto. That’s helpful!

If I haven’t heard about scholarships by now, does this mean I won’t get any? I live in Alabama and was really hoping to go here… :(

^ have you recieved scholarships from other universities that you’ve been accepted to? Reason I asked is because I was very unsure of recieving any scholarship money from TAMU despite the fact I got out-of-state tuition wavers from my other accepted universities. After a few calls to the Financial Aid people they were able to match my scholarships from the other universities and give me in-state tuition. being your own best advocate really does work.

Yes, I’ve got some scholarships to OU and Alabama. Full tuition and $2500 a semester for Bama, and a couple thousand for OU. OU doesn’t have out-of-state tuition waiver like A&M, but if I could enough as much as I got from OU for A&M, I’d be able to go there.

I qualify for the honors program (31 ACT), so I was hoping for something…

nasagirl14, did you approach TAMU by email and/or phone? Did you have to provide them with written proof of other offers? S received presidential scholarship (full tuition scholarship) from Alabama (+ Honors program and Intl Honors program) plus several other schools have offered him generous scholarships.

He has been accepted to TAMU and Mays Business with no scholarship. His ACT is 32, 8 APs, dual enrollment, TN Governor’s school for Intl Studies, strong ECs, volunteer and varsity/leadership roles. We were disappointed with no scholarship offers.

I called them and explained that I had recieved scholarships from other universities and the Financial Aid man said to fax those scholarships to him and he said he would see what he could do about it. I decided to call them because I figured email was too slow and may not get me the results I was hoping for.

@badger42: yeah I recieved a nice scholarshp from OU as well and that was one of the scholarships I faxed them. I would show them every scholarship you’ve recieved from other schools and see what happens.

@kmwjes: I would definitely try calling them. with stats like those and the scholarships you’ve already recieved I think you stand a good chance. I personally had a 30 ACT, 4.1W GPA, 8 APs, multiple ECs and got into engineering. For me, I felt the need to call soon because it seemed like every time I went to TAMU, I heard someone from the Financial Aid department say that all scholarship money was on a first-come, first-served basis and it was extremely important for me to get the out-of-state tuition wavier. I think it’s when TAMU sees how much other schools really value you that they start to get competitive and offer more scholarships

@nasagirl14, thank you for so much for sharing your information. How long did it take from your request to your scholarship offer?

Called them a few days ago, they are mailing out scholarship letters March 1st.

@kmwjes: I would say roughly a week or two.

I have a question…does A&M notify you either way regarding scholarship money? I know that letters were mailed today but will you get a letter letting you know that you didn’t get money or just a letter if you do? Also, I know that they said info could also be found on the Howdy Portal. Again, is the info posted if you didn’t get money? Thanks

Some departments are already notifying students. The PetE department emailed me and told me they were giving me enough for an out-of-state tuition waiver. Maybe they let OOS students know first?

I got a letter today with a departmental scholarship. It is the second one from TAMU, and together they cover a good bit of the tuition. I am in-state so the relative cost was not too bad to start with and the awards make it a much better deal.

Tiger1992, Are you already an A&M student? Which department?

I am a potential freshman at Mays in fall 2011. Not sure if I will be going to A&M, tho.

i’m an a&m hopeful
i’ve been accepted, and already received two scholarships, but i heard that scholarship decisions are still being made, so i i’m reaaally hoping i get more money.
