UCONN's website doesn't really list much for scholarships besides the ones they only give to an extremely small number of people (example: Nutmeg Scholarship). Does anyone know what else they give out?

I personally am an in-state high school senior. WGPA 4.339. UW GPA - about a 3.9. Taken AP Lang and Comp, AP Psych, and AP Biology for Uconn Credit. SATS -1950 total (600 reading, 660 math, 690 writing).

Plenty of Extracurricular: NHS, Newspaper (editor), Orientation Group (in charge of), multiple choral groups, JV sport, lots of various community service, School Musical, etc.

And I applied as a psychology major, if that matters.

It’s possible that you might get an Academic Excellence Scholarship which is anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 tuition. It’s a lot less structured than most scholarships, and it has more leeway depending upon your other activities.

From what I’ve seen with my HS friends from last year and people I’ve met this year, however, I wouldn’t expect more than 1/4 tuition if that. Large scholarships and the like are becoming quite competitive at UConn in this economic climate. Seeing as most private universities cost $55K-$60K, $26K (2012-2013, I haven’t checked the figures for 2013-2014) is quite reasonable. I don’t claim to understand the administration and admission policies, but they are trying to put themselves in the news for gaining prestige, and to some extent the results are showing.

There is also a Leadership scholarship that is often given to students that might not have the tippy top SAT scores or be in the top 2-3% of their class. Last year, DS qualified for the academic excellence 1/2 tuition with a combined SAT of 1410 and an UW GPA of 3.86. You are not far from that, and your EC’s look good for leadership. There might be some money coming your way.

Just found this on the Admissions page too.

Students are encouraged to apply early and priority consideration for merit scholarships is December 1.
